With Carlton's backline lacking a big solid backman, what do you rate Matthew Watson's chances of playing in the Carlton backline at the start of next year?

Considering his height and weight (195cm & 102kg) I think he would make a pretty good acquisition for most dream teams.

He should play a fair few games but I don't think he will be a great DTer & would prefer the likes of Mzungu & Richardson over him.

maestro12

What team does Richardson play for ?

Boomz

Mature age recruit was prelisted by GC & on traded to North so North lol
Played very well in the VFL last year.

Do you know what the average amount of possessions he racked up per game last yr in the VFL ?

i dont know that but i do know he played 21 games this year for north ballarat, and got in the best 14 times. pretty good.

with rookies like Mzungu, Richardson, Heppell, Jacobs, O'Shea etc. its hard to look at a kpp back

i just saw this bloke in the fanplanner and i hadnt heard a whole lot about him... what are our thoughts? could take andrew walkers role as a half back?

4820

I think Ratten will give him some opportunities at senior level. More of a KPP than a running half back. For me perhaps an upgrade target.

oh okay thanks 4820, i thought he was a pretty unquie back benchie :)

Watch pre season, he may find himself part of the Carlton back six (if that's the case he would be a great back benchie) but at this satge I don't think he will be a regular.

PowerMan

in the prospectus is says he's played a little up forward as well as back.

I reckon the mature body and head of Nick Duigan may get first run ahead of Matthew Watson.
