Ossie. Would you mind transferring this post to the "Why I Love Collingwood And Why We ARE Going TO Beat The Crapp Out Of Everyone Else Next Year" thread. Ta :)

Thought I was quite fair in my assessment bunyip!

I rate the Cats, Saints, Dogs, Hawks, Dockers and Demons especially.

Seriously the pies were immune from any serious injuries to key players in 2010. If you take a couple of their stars out due to injury then it becomes anyones flag. Most top 8 teams were affected by injuries in 2010, except Collingwood.

Boohickey. Saints had a great run with injuries except for Riewoldt during the year and Gardiner in GF. Pies lost the best defender Presti for the finals and Dick again (who I think is in best 22 when fit).

Cats list was more-or-less fine by the end of the year, just some of them were tired.

In the end, it came down to depth.

Dogs and Dockers were crucified I'll give you that. Swans and Blues were more or less fine. Hawks recovered by years end mostly also.

I'm agreeing with an Collingwood fan twice in a row.... something isn't right here....

With ya Ossie on both counts. Thought your assessment of other teams was fair and that Collingwood wasn't successful due to a lack of injuries. Collingwood is a very even side, beyond their 22 even, probably 25-6. A few injuries wouldn't hurt them as much as most teams. One of the reasons they were so successful.

And Carlton had their entire team fit for the full year, Judd didn't miss a game except for his eye gouging suspension!!!!

Lost the Big Kruz for a while.

You need a good run with injuries to win a grand final. You need all your best players on the ground, and they have to be fit.
Take the Gf between Geelong and the Saints.
If Riewolt was fit, and they played Hudgston instead of whoever, it may have been a different result.
Sometimes the teams are so closely matched, it doesn't take much to tip the scales.

well thats a given bunyip.. hard to see a team winning a GF with half they're team out..
and yes most of the time the teams are closely matched like this year even though collingwood dominated the year, the saints still got them to a second GF

bunyip

I don't think Collingwood dominated the season. Geelong and St. Kilda both beat them and Geelong had a better percentage at the end of the season.
Stupid Melbourne >:(

The Pies dominated in as much as we were guaranteed top position after round 21, had beaten Geelong & St.Kilda in the second half of the season and won about 11 out of our last 12 games.

Granted we didn't dominate in April, May & June but that is the key I would have thought.
