Freo will do well, but they aren't quite top 4 yet. Pies Saints Hawks and Geelong will make up the top 4.

Boomz

Freo will make top 4 imo Hawks 5th... They can compete with top sides but are not at all consistent.

It's interesting that as much as us non-Collingwood types are anti Collingwood, we will spend most of the season hoping our teams were just like them - that's what burns so much  >:(

Speak for yourself  :P

bunyip

Not LIKE them, just a bit better.  :)

I love how its all about Collingwood.

My two cents worth is that the team most likely to prevent Collingwood going back to back is Collingwood. I wonder whether metally we will be as strong as when chasing an ellusive flag.

I honestly think it will be the same teams pushing us, Geelong, St.Kilda and perhpas Hawthorn. I think the Dogs are done, Freo won't improve much and Carlton & Essendon are just playing for everyone else's amusement.  ;)

There's always someone who gets under the radar cruis. It's easy to discount teams like Sydney and Adelaide, but you never know.
And yes, this time it IS all about Collingwood. You are the premiers, so us also rans have to cut you down a peg or two. I'm really looking forward to next season, if only to see how Collingwood cope.

Bunyip, you say someone always gets under the guard but I'm not sure anyone has for the last few years. I'm going on the assumption that being in the top 4 makes you a genuine contender.

2010 the top 4 in no particular order were Geelong, St.Kilda, Collingwood and Bulldogs.  I think that was largely predicted at the start of the season, probably with most having Collingwood at the bottom of those four.

2009 the top 4 was the same. No major surprises.

2008 the top four were the same except Hawthorn was in for Collingwood. Possibly Hawthorn got under the guard but they had finished 5th the year before.

What do you reckon?

Often one or two teams will slip into the eight that few expected too, but rarely does that happen for the top 4.

bunyip

Essendon got under the radar last season. A lot of people (me included) expected them to do well ;D

Where as some of us know how rubbish they were, are and will be into the foreseeable future. The problems exist well beyond the coach. Currently the coaching staff would most likely beat the playing list. The problem was they were too attached to their list. When they gave Sheedy the flick, they had the choice between Knights and Hardwick. Hardwick said the list was rubbish and they would have to rebuild, Knights said it was good and built off it over 3 years. 3 years on it has grown like a cancer. Those same decision makers who chose Knights also extended his contract for no logical reason.... Anyway, this is an anti Collingwood thread not a how rubbish were the Essendon administrators thread so end rant.

Justin Bieber

I wanted Hardwick :'(.

I never expected much this season. 2009 was a fluke and we would of been lucky to make the 8 this season.

We've got some good youngsters but need better forwards to help out. Some good experienced players wouldn't hurt after losing so many is such a short period of time.

You guys can keep fighting amongst yourselves for #2

Adelaide: Pies have a very good record against them in Big Games, do not have enough class
Lions: Have a very good record against Collingwood, only team the Pies didn't beat in 2010. Shouldn't challenge though
Carlton: Aren't balanced enough to challenge.
Essendon: Lack quality defensive skills, doubt Hird can fix it straight away
Fremantle: Young and hungry, could prove tough, especially at Subi.
Geelong: Pies had worked them out, still full of stars, will Scott bring a new flavour? Maybe
Gold Coast: Surely way too green
Hawthorn: Buddy murders the Pies every time. Would hate to play them in finals
Melbourne: Match up will against Collingwood, and have belief. Tricky, but will be focusing on finals.
North Melbourne: Another young exciting team, but are prone to shlackings against top teams.
Port Adelaide: Do not think they have the list to challenge.
Richmond: Developing, not yet.
St. Kilda: Extremely tough unit, but the 'bottom 6' issue still applies and Polo/Gamble ain't likely to fix that.
Sydney: Has been a long time since they beat the Pies! The Horse may have a different attitude
West Coast: Would be lucky to find the MCG, let alone beat the Pies on it.
Western Bulldogs: Tough again, but do they have much improvement? Maybe an issue
