When you play for them it is. It was quite clear he was guiding the ball over the top of the slips as he did it by a mile.

yes but if u misjudge the ball by 5 mm uve knicked 1 to the keeper

At that level, when the ball is that short with the bats they, even a little feather can get it over the keeper ;)

If you look for the negatives in every shot, then every shot has a risk. Just blocking a ball has risks. Pulls shots are very regularly skied for an easy catch from misjudging the ball.

But the positive from it is, he was precise and calculating in the shot he played and was rightly rewarded for it with a boundary.

Watson out :(
terrible shot. Watto needs to learn how to defend on the back foot.

these 2 will bat out the day...

Well Mr. Clarke, let's see how you go.

Geez, Watson. Another solid start

Watson is a much better player when he is playing his shots. Every time he goes to defend, he looks in all sorts of bother and is generally his down fall.

His defense is always when the ball beats the bat, when he plays he looks much more comfortable.

Constantly scoring 40-60 would suggest a concentration issue too me, not a technique issue.

Unlike say Phil Hughes, who never seems to get going

In all fairness to Watson, there was a lot of reasons that his concentration was broken with Lunch then shortly following called off the ground then back in within 10 minutes of that. However his technique whilst defending in general not only his back foot defensive shots, is somewhat lacking the soft hands needed to get the ball down to the ground sooner if it takes an edge.
