Summary: Brodie Smith
Team: Adelaide                                   Birthdate: 14 Jan 1992
Height: 189cm                                     Weight: 79kg
Recruited: Woodville West Torrens     State: SA

The #14 pick from the 2010 AFL NAB Draft, Brodie Smith. Where do I start...... I can say he wasn't a bad choice that early. He is a medium sized midfielder who actually played the majority of his games in the SANFL (with Woodville West Torrens) at Half Back Flank. He is an excellent runner which I suppose let them use his pace to run out of half back. Combined with his excellent endurance, could make for one hell of a breakaway Flanker or even Winger. In a time where pace is almost everything in AFL, Smith will more than certainly fill a speed gap at Adelaide. He can run and carry the ball well and evades tackles with ease. He prefers to handball than kick though which dampers his Supercoach ability. Although, he will get a ton of clearances and Inside 50's due to his ability to get the ball away from a pack.

His downsides to his game is probably his defensive game as well as his kicking. In Supercoach, Kicking efficency is GOLD. He needs to work on his Kicking but his tackling abilities can be let go if you can run like him. However, Adelaide could have chosen a potential long term Captain for their growing side. Smith happened to be the Captain of South Australia at the 2010 Under 18 Championships in which he was given All Australian Honours.

The Crystal Ball:
Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $147,500
Position: Midfielder

With a higher price to pay for rookies chosen in the first round, will make it interesting to see how people go about their midfield rookies. He is priced $50k more than other rookies who could potentially pull in similar numbers.

Decision:
I'll keep him as shortlisted for now. With the Adelaide Veteran exodus, I wouldn't be suprised if he came in and played all 22 games next season. However, his price tag is a little put off compared to some of the rookies who are much lower in price. However, playing for Adelaide could boost his scores as most of the higher scoring players have left and need to be replaced.

I might take him. I don't think I will have many from Adelaide and he might just sneak in.

I think I need 9 more posts til 400. :D

I actually like this guy and hes on my short list :)

A Fun Fact on Brodie Smith.

While I was researching him found out he barracked for Port Adelaide!! ;D ;D. Now he plays for the enemy :P.

MajorLazer

That is the problem of being drafted in the AFL. :P

I'll put him on the short-list, put more likely to go for an under 100k midfielder

Fletch74

Could be a good unique, some fanatsy coaches might look elsewhere with rookies. The SANFL experience will be good experience for him leading into the AFL.

Shortlisted.

Maca24

nar prob not. he will find it hard to get games at crows early on.

Junktimer

is a good chance to be DEF/MID, if so, close to a lock.  if just a MID, short list

SydneyRox

HP, since I havent heard much of this guy, what do you rate his chances to play?

Junktimer

I'm not HP, but due to Adelaide's exodus of midfielders, he should get game time.  is a big boy for a midfielder

None of the players that retired last year really played midfeild except Edwards.  But we had the chance to give players such as Sloane and Jaensch.  I dont see him getting much game time next year, but you never know but id be doubtful there are other players for me thatll have a higher likelihood of playing

The faith that Craig showed in Jaensch last season and the fact that Sloane has been given Tyson Edwards old number says that a high scoring mid role is out of the question and that he may play a structured role for  blocks of the season. ie 3 0r 4 games here and there, frustrate us, get a taste for it and be an almost certainty next year should he come in under the 10 or 11 game min for rookie status moving forward into 2012.
However looking at off season surgeries to Vince and Mackay may see him get early season action and be a nice cash cow.

McLeod played half back which pretty much is Smith's role.
