Alex Fasolo

Summary:

Collingwood's top draft pick at number 46, with the club stating they thought he would go in the top 15. From the look of some of the stats available, I can see why they thought that, and the small forward Fasolo could be a real bargain for Collingwood.

m0nty's WAFL Stats

In terms of Dream Team output (SC not available as far as I'm aware), Fasolo was ranked 2nd of all the WA draftees in DT in the colts (behind Jack Darling) with an average of 98.8, and 2nd of all the WA draftees in the seniors (behind Jamie Cripps) with an average of 84.2.

Add to that, the AFL recently released its 120e evaluation statistics, with Fasolo ranked at #7

AFL 120e Stats

Fasolo behind only the much more fancied Dion Prestia (pick 9), Josh Caddy (pick 7), Dyson Heppell (pick 8 ), Mitch Wallis (pick 22, father-son), Ben Jacobs (pick 16) and Andrew Gaff (pick 4).

The Crystal Ball:

Based on m0nty's fanplanner

Price: $87,500

Position: FWD

Fasolo looks a clear win for Collingwood from just looking at the basic stats. However, Collingwood maintained all of its premiership 22 from last year, with Leon Davis, Brad Dick, Andrew Krakouer, Chris Tarrant and John McCarthy on the outer, it is hard to see him breaking in the side for a regular game, especially early on. Could be a more of a 2012 target!

Decision:

Unlikely for me. Plenty of Collingwood forwards are likely to be chosen (Thomas, Didak, Sidebottom and even Cloke), and a lack of guarantee to play. However, if he does work his way into the side later in the year, he could shine. Malthouse shows a lot of faith in his youngsters, and we all know Premiership Player Jarryd Blair's story (who was gold for coaches who picked him up last year). So maybe a downgrade target later in the year.

Not much to say on poor Alex :)

Few people have voted though! From short list to outright no...

i might look at him :D

Don't think he will play, but not ruling out anyone.

Very unlikely for me.

Will be lucky to get a game, unless there are injuries.

McCarthy is way in front of him, the reason he hasn't played is due to heaps of injuries. I'd  expect to see him next year, although definitely not Fasolo just yet.

yes wont be starting him. looks like he could be a good player though he did well at draft camp

Junktimer

has a heap of ability and the Pies did really well to get him at pick 45, however Collingwood have great depth in the midfield/forward department so its hard to see him get many games.

could do a jarryd blair- play some games late, in which case i think he would make a great downgrade target.

unlikely to start with him though.

On the Shortlist for sure. Will closely watch Pre-Season.
