Just wondering what elephants, browny and other west coast posters thought about the eagles' picks in terms of fantasy implications:

Gaff at 4
Darling at 26
Lycett at 29

Sort of things I'm wondering is do you reckon Gaff will get early games with WCE loaded (but average) midfield division? (also likes of Kerr coming back, Shuey hopefully no more glanduar fever)

Same with Darling and Lycett - do you think they're ready to play early on?

Boomz

Gaff & Darling for sure but I doubt Lycett will get many games in his first year... Good player but will take sometime for his body to adjust to AFL level etc...

Justin Bieber

I agree with BOOMZ.

Gaff is a ready made player. Will add to the Eagles midfield and allow others to be used elsewhere (e.g Scott Selwood on HB Flank, Strijk and Schuey on HF Flank, etc). Was drafted early to help out their midfield. And if Kerr is set, doesn't look like a bad midfield (Kerr, Priddis and Adam Selwood there).

Eagles need a solid FF after Lynch has fallen out of favour. Darling slipped quite a bit and has shown he has talent. Allows JJ to move up to HF and takes a man off LeCras, their main guy. Really helps their struggling forwards so can't see why he won't start from round 1.

Don't know alot about Lycett but he is a Ruck who can play forward. Could be used if needed forward, oherwise, will be cover incase NicNat or Coxy go down.

Simple Jack

The 3 players the Eagles picked up look the goods, but why did they only use  such few picks? Lycett will be ready to roll when Cox is finishing up in a couple of years. Should be happy with the ruck succession plan.

I see Ash Hansen was just delisted! Really are winds of changes at the Eagles

Not really a surprise though. He was not doing anything!

Doesn't make him any more useful now!!!

I have to admit though, I liked him years ago but has lost it :(.

With Hansen's delisting, does that give Lycett a better chance of lining up in Round 1 assuming Lynch's pre season turns out to be average?

So glad Hansen is gone. I would have delisted before 2009 started.

Quite happy with our drafted players. I think Darling was a bargain, same with Lycett. Would have prefered to keep Swallow or Bennell but Gaff was the next best I suppose. Hansen still has a year or two left but with the inclusion of Darling and the rise of Wilson, Kennedy and Lecras there really is no room for him. Or Lynch up forward for my mind. Lynch will pinch hit and cover injuries this year and it may be his last at the club.

they weren't sure about the tall timber in the fwd line, probably kept him as injury insurance but were probably hoping he would get back to the potential he showed back in 2005 and 2006??

I dont think the Eagles were that active as they are close to their salary cap limit.  Hansen (when fit) was actually performing well at WAFL level when many bags of 3 - 5 goals.
