Summary:

Jared Polec, taken at #5 in the AFL Draft by the Brisbane Lions, is "as good a junior I've seen come through the system" according to Woodville-West Torrens coach Michael Godden.

The herald-sun had a decent write up on him - Jared Polec the complete package that does his more justice than I can give him :) He sounds like an all-round midfielder, and look forward to his progress.

Price: $182,500

Position: MID

High draft-pick, and therefore more expensive then you'd think. Brisbane lost a heap of midfield experience, with Brennan, Rischitelli and Sherman gone, and Polec should find himself getting games early. The Lions have no byes in super-coach which is another added bonus, and could be a decent cash-cow. There are other cheap Lions midfielders to consider this - particularly Xavier Clarke and Claye Beams - but I think is a very good option.

Decision:

Another newbie, another short-list. A bit more pricey than I'd like, and I might be tempted to go $100k cheaper, and upgrade somewhere else. Could easily slip in though.

He will definitely be getting games and I feel he will do well, I am just waiting for the NAB Cup to see how he goes

I'm not a fan of having more than 1 expensive rookie & I already have Swallow so i doubt it... Prefer the 100-120k guys ;D

Whilst he will get some games, there are other rookies around that price that I might choose first, thus I will put him down as T&G, I will prefer just as BOOMZ stated to have a couple of cheaper rookies

At the Lions I would expect him to start from the get go. Shortlisted and we'll see how he goes pre season.

Although I much prefer Swallow and Gaff as my Premium Rookie Priced players.

M0nty has all the rookies drafted in the 1st round priced higher than past year. To account for price cuts to all other players.

stephen hill- like player will definitely get games.

however i think he will be a little like hill in his first season, (may do a bit better)

will show a bit of flair, and will watch pre season, short list.

However, I have Swallow, Gaff and Heppell ahead of him at this stage.

He may very well, they are pretty different players as Gaff is more of an inside mid who wins lots of the hard ball, while Polec is more of a winger who gets possies given to him, and kicks more golas then Gaff i would think
