Bradley error fixed :)

Valk... I like Deledio and Griffen as players also, but if you offered me a choice:

1) Get Deledio AND Griffen

2) Get Franklin

I would take Franklin everytime. Franklin is a very rare commodity, there aren't many similar type of players around. As good as Deledio and Griffen are, they are far more expendable.

The forwards are only as good as the delivery they get, having good midfielders will make average forwards look good (Geelong anyone?)

I disagree. Hill had a great second half of 2010, Nic Nat had a great first half of 2010.

If we go buy what they achieved so far in their careers, than Rich would get it.

I didn't see Rich, definitely he climbs up above them both. Rich 1, Hill 2 Nic Nat 3 on what they have achieved so far. Hill was crucial in Freos success at the business end of the season. Rich was heavily tagged in only his second year!

Who has played better on average, Rich would probably win. How has had the more positive effect on his teams overall performance, Hill. Teams have actively done more to counter Hill than Rich or Naitanui which to me, after all three playing such little footy, is the best measure we have.

Fevola, J. Riewoldt and LeCras have all done pretty well without great delivery. Pavlich did for a long time also. Franklin would dominate in any team IMO

I have to agree Valk. Our full forward has been a problem. Tommahawk tries hard but has struggled.
Great thread oss. So many great players. I think Richmond not picking up Franklyn will always be a sore point with their fans though, Richo notwithstanding.

Cicjose

By the end of his career Franklin will have eclipsed Richo IMO provided he still kicks bags of goals year in and year out

Boomz

He won't have eclipsed him in tigers fans minds...

Simple Jack

Does anyone know if the 2003 draft was full of duds, barring Cooney and Sylvia. Or was the top 10 just badly picked?

ossie85

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_AFL_Draft

Full of duds really. Adam Cooney and David Mundy are the only All-Australians in that lot

BoredSaint

David Mundy isnt an all australian - he made the initial squad but not the team.

Ah yes, of course Valk :)

Well, Cooney is the only All-Aus then....

Now, pick your best 22 from the above based on their careers^

Mine:

B: A McGrath, S Wakelin*, J Hunt
HB: C Newman (V-Capt), A McPhee, G Johncock
C: D Cross, K Cornes, S Thompson
HF: A Didak, N Riewoldt (Capt), A Buchanan
F: J Koschitzke, S Rocca*, M Williams
Foll: D Petrie, D Kerr, S Burgoyne
Inter: M Pike*, L Ablett, M Coughlan, D Cassisi
Emerg: D Motlop, J McMahon, J Cloke

Should mention * - means it was the players 2nd draft, and only their career from that point should be considered. Wakelin played in 2 grand finals and was huge in the Pies defense for the best part of a decade, Pike went onto to play in 3 Premierships and Rocca is the best full-forward of the bunch.
