Nick Malceski

2010 Stats
Games: 22
Total Score: 2121 (Ranked 31st overall, 4th amongst defenders)
Average Score: 96.41 (Ranked 50th overall, 10th amongst defenders)
High: 139 (Rounds 1 and 3)
Low: 35 (Round 19)
Standard Deviation: 33.21
Centuries: 12 out of 22
Starting Price: $273,500
High Price: $512,200 (round 17)
Low Price: $273,500 (round 1)

Summary:

Easily one of the best picks of 2010. He was a premium defender from the outset at the bargain-basement price of $273,500. Started the season off well with 6 centuries in the first 7 rounds at an average of 114.86 (and that was with a score of 45 in round 6). Followed it up with a bit of a lean patch between rounds 8 and 11, with 1 century at the average of 81.25, causing many coaches to believe he had peaked and was promptly sold off.

Those who KEPT THE FAITH would have been please though, with the 6 rounds from rounds 12 to 17 he averaged 112.67 with 5 centuries. By this point, those who had him (and those who bought him in) were ready to build a strong finals campaign with Nick Malceski in the side. One of the most popular players in the competition, most people contesting hard in finals had him, and unfortunately, he disappointed.

The last 5 rounds saw Malceski fail to score a century, have two sub-40 scores, and average only 63.2. It was not a crucial blow for most coaches however, as their opposition also more-than-likely had him.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $512,000

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $487,500

Position: DEF

I have doubts over Malceski this year. He did fade away somewhat, put will only be 27 next year. My guess is he averages in the low 90s.

Very pricey, and should stay a defender only.

Decision:

Touch and go for me. Malceski was a hero last year, and could back it up again, just not sure if there is much value in him. Would probably prefer to pick a Kelly, Deledio or Gibbs (who will be similarly priced) with the added benefit of MPP.

Thoughts?

True, would rather pick one of them 3 but with Sydney not having a bye in the regular season makes him more appealing  :-\

Ah, good point!

I always forger to include the bye in these discussions :)

benjy251090

I always take these things into account ;)

Boomz

Wasn't even in calculations for me until the draw was announced but now he's a good chance...

S_Coach99

Bit too pricey for me, could get better for that price...

Also I see a bit more value in Hurn if he does a good preseason...

Maca24

cant believe he is 27! thought he was younger.
umm im not sure yet. at this stage i think there are better premiums

Don't think he will fit in my team.

Perfect upgrade target if he has a few of those low scores as he is too pricy to be in the starting lineup.

Couldn't agree more. Anyone averaging 90+, playing all 22 has to be seriously considered.

Only in the backs and forwards :)

Wouldn't touch a midfielder who averaged only 90

Ossie the shame!!! Can't belive you could mention prefering Gibbs over anyone, unless of course you were talking about down hill skiing.
