Her coach is the problem, the guy claims to be one of the best strikers, but go watch some of his fights, he's terrible.  If Rhonda really wanted to become a better striker she needed to change her training team.

Agree with Daz on Garbrandt ... I knew nothing of him before the fight but he was great - that was a definite 'Fight of the year' contender to me ...  ;D

I don't know, she looked done when she got hit - does this mean the end? Could be ... she does have movies and the like to go to if she wants so money/career will not be the pull back to the cage for her ...

I gave her the benefit of the doubt but it was clear w/in 2seconds that her coach had not called in any specialist boxing coaches to even allow her to defend against Nunes' striking before she could clinch and go to the judoka area of strength ...

As so as they got close my mate and I were looking at each other going, "What the flower is she doing with her hands??" ...  :o
They were up and away, doing flower all and then Nunes hands went straight through the non-existence defence/resistance and that was that ...

I think for her 'legacy' she should have another go, but only if she 'wants' it ...
first thing is to sack the coach or at least get a real boxing trainer to come in ...

I think a real MMA coaching establishment such as Jackson-Winklejohn would 'fix' her ... 'like that!' ... easy peasy ...  8)   ;)

Not sure it would be easy peasy j. Most commentators and other fighters say it takes years of striking practice for her to be just average at it. I do agree that a good team/coach would certainly help her, especially to defend herself enough to get close enough to try and get a takedown, but I don't think Ronda has the pride or patience to start striking at a low level.

I think she's done, and sorry to all the Ronda fans, I for one enjoyed the fight :)

Garbrant looked great, I think he shocked even Cruz with his patience and coolness. I found it silly, to not go for the " kill " when he stunned Dom a few times. My lads version was that he wanted to prove he could go 5 rounds with the champ. If that's correct, that's a dangerous game to play lol

Garbrant was smart not going to the ground. He was dominating the stand up and didn't risk losing on the ground. Cruz is a beast on the ground and could have turned things in his favour on the ground

Don't risk it. I think it showed a lot of maturity from him, to not get caught in the moment and go rushing in for the finish and lose

Yeah i agree with Cookie, if he got wild he could have been clipped or he could have gassed trying to finish, see how quickly Cruz rebooted every time he got dropped, like a flowering terminator :o

ha, ha - yeh, I more meant that with a decent coaching panel behind her she would easily have a proper fight-strategy in place.
I lost any respect for Edmond Tarverdyan in her fight with Holm after rd 1 and they were in the corner and he didn't tell Ronda to make any adjustments whatsoever - instead he went something like, "Yeah, you're doing great - just keep doing what you're doing" and it's like, wtf drugs are you on man - tell her to flowering stop chasing after Holm you idiot!  :P

So a proper coach would bring in a boxing coach to allow Rousey to defend against a striker to give her time to work her judo/clinch game ...

I agree smart not going to ground, but imo not smart in not following up when Cruz went down â€" can still be patient in following someone to ground when you’ve knocked them down, but still not over-commit or get overly caught up in the moment …

I have never had any respect for him, granted, my coach told me at one point you could pay him money to "learn jiu jitsu" under him and never meet him, you send him videos of yourself performing the moves and could earn your black belt in no time, he is a complete joke, before that i had never paid any attention to who her coach was, seriously lucky guy to have made the money he has with "the knowledge" he has...

At the time i thought it was silly for Cody not to follow up, after watching it a second time i became more convinced this was his plan all along, the knockdowns he would not have planned, but he seemed intent on outpointing him, frustrating him, and more than anything, going the distance and keeping risks to a minimum, he even took the last round off because he knew he had it in the bag.
Got to respect a guy who sticks to the game plan even when your having that type of success, must have been tempting...
