David Armitage

2010 Stats
Games: 9
Total Score: 625 (Ranked 306th overall, 166th amongst midfielders)
Average Score: 69.44 (Ranked 271st overall, 138th amongst midfielders)
High: 114 (Round 2)
Low: 43 (Round 1)
Standard Deviation: 25.43
Centuries: 2 out of 9
Starting Price: $413,600
High Price: $413,600 (round 1)
Low Price: $321,500 (round 22)

Summary:

Touted as Premiership Player Luke Ball's replacement in the St. Kilda line-up, many supercoaches had David Armitage in their starting line-up. Unfortunately, at a price $413,600, he proved toxic. Centuries in rounds 2 and 4 were surrounded by scores of 43 (round 1), 54 (round 3), 67 (round 5) and 64 (round 6). He missed round 7, returning in round 8 to score 44, before disappearing from the St. Kilda line-up until round 21 (where he finished the year with 54 and 81).

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $368,800 (no discount), $331,900 (10% discount)

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $316,100

Position: MID

What's not clear is if Armitage is in St. Kilda's best 22. He wasn't selected in either Grand Final, and the Saints line-up has not changed much since. I'd expect more fringe-type activity from Armitage, and if he does become a regular, I doubt he will score consistently high (though he does have the potential).

He should attract a 10% discount, putting him right into that awkward price range.

Decision:

Unlikely for me. I believe Armitage is a bit overrated and has yet to prove himself.

Boomz

Completely agree with your decision... Very unlikely.

ronl

Very apt summation, ossie, I'll second that.

im confident he will be in their best 22 next year. can see him doing well but a bit to risky for me. would hate to see him get dropped after 5 rounds.

#5
Robert eddy played in both grand finals this year but he was dumped from the saints squad while armitage played in neither and he wasn't dumped.

But then again armitage is slowish and the saints need speed could have been a good trade aspect, but i guess that didn't happen.

DazBurg

agree with you ossie too risky for me plus i tried him in 2010 and burnt me
so very unlikely from me

I would say alot closer to a no than an unlikely for me. Just didn't see what all the fuss was about him last pre season.
