I can't believe how ungrateful alot of geelong fans are being at the moment. He'd done all he could for the club, and perhaps some credence should also be given to Thompson's claim of psychological stress. He is not returning to Essendon as the head coach, he has taken a position as assistant coach. That would suggest that he wants to stay in the game, but does not want the crushing responsibility of the coach's position. I think that the argument about disloyalty would carry more weight if Bomber had taken the position of head coach.

Whinging won't get you another premiership!

Boomz

TBH I'm happy he's back but Essendon & him could've both handled it way better...

supercoach addict

True Boomz, true. They went about it in a weird way, but its done now. Time for cats supporters to move on.

Boomz

Agreed. A lot have but theres still quite a few whinging about it...

supercoach addict

The geelong advertisers front page:

"Not too tired now, hey mark?"

"Bomber a hypocrit over essendon deal"

Boomz

lol yeah... I think it would've helped if he had come out & said something yesterday... ::)

Sc, I understand that you are embarrassed by your clubs behavior, but rest assured, we at Geelong have no hard feelings.
Your tirade is quite understandable. If MY club acted in such a disgusting (and confused) way, I'd be exactly the same.
If you feel the need to talk about it, I'm here mate. :)

This from Jake Niall at Real Footy ..

"Ablett was not the only significant Geelong figure to be criticised by ''Bomber'' on the loyalty issue, with former assistant coach Ken Hinkley, who had a close relationship with Ablett, also understood to have been criticised for leaving the club and taking up a position with Gold Coast."

.. WFT was Thompson thinking ... oops oh yeah that's right I forgot .. I've got to move on

It's funny, in the sun today the headline is "Get Over It' and a photo of Hird snarling at the camera. Yet, if you read the article, he doesn't say that at all. It's actually the journo who said that, and tried to make it look like Hird said it. This is inflammatory journalism designed to get a response. Unfortunately, some Essendon supporters who shall remain nameless, have fallen for it.
For the record, there was 1 article about it in the Addy, and another one about the e-mail that was leaked.
The media are trying to keep this story alive, fair enough, they have to sell papers, but I would ask you guys not to attribute every response you read about Bomber to Geelong supporters. :)
