So...  :D

I'm of the theory that one should have 2 very different teams depending on whether you're trying to win your league, or trying to win the car. I am open to be persuaded otherwise on that opinion, however,  and would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Firstly, I'd like to hear some of your guys thoughts about building a team around a league win - and the use of MPP's within your team to save trades for the business end of the season.

By placing someone like Goddard (B/C) in your starting midfield to allow MPP, I believe you weaken your team in terms of trying to achieve an overall ranking position. You're forced to insert a (slightly) inferior premium into your backline (say, Lake) and you would (for the sake of argument) lose Montagna out of your mids.

In short you swap Montagna for Lake, OR:
A 112 Average player for a 100 Average Player.

However, my question is:

Is it worth the sacrifice of overall points over a season for the ability to take advantage of MPP when you (and we all will) need cover throughout the season? Therefore saving some extra trades for the finals. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts?

Of course, you could also move someone like Chapman into the mids in place of (say Selwood) to allow for MPP in the forwards etc. etc. etc.

Interested to hear your thoughts!  :)

if you build a team designed purely for national rankings than you can still win leagues, you might be a bit bit disadvantaged to people going purely for league but i went purely ranking this year and i happend to win my top 100 ranked league.
