Summary:

Shane Tuck's career was on the cross-roads at Tiger land. Strange, given he was one of the hardest players the Tigers have. However, Richmond coach Damien Hardwick gave him some faith and he really responded in 2010. Missing for the first two rounds, Tuck returned in round 3 and looked shaky with only 16 touches and 64 SC points. From then, however he became a different player. The next 10 rounds saw him score 9 centuries at an average of 115 and the (very few) coaches that had him would have been praising their prime choice!

His second half of the year was a bit more concerning though, his last 9 rounds saw only 4 centuries at the still respectable average of 94.4. But only 1 century in the last 4 rounds would have killed many finals campaigns.

Tuck has always been a decent Supercoach scorer, his yearly averages were:

And like his father, has proven to be durable after a relatively late start (again like his father) to an AFL career.

Another interesting stat is he averaged 95.7 against top 8 teams, still respectable but distinctly different from his average of 110.8 against bottom 8 sides. However, he still scored a big century against Geelong (145, round 6).

Position: MID

Tuck will be 29 nine next year, and although I do not doubt his durability, I do wonder if his output will decrease with the improvement of midfielders such as Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin.

Decision:

I'm after uniques for my team, and given Tuck's record, he will go on the short list just for that. He is expensive, but I do rate him as a premium at his best. The Tigers also do have a decent bye draw with only one in round 11.

+1 but Tuck still on my short list because of he's a bit of a unique & consistent.

Too pricey, that is elite level and whilst he is good he is not elite.

Although I'm more inclined to say he's an upgrade option for me rather than a starter.

interestingly, his scores were higher when richmond were crap, and when they improved his scores dropped off.

he is very over priced IMO, so very very unlikely
