Simon Prestigiacomo will retire today according to the Herald Sun. You are a star, and will be missed. My favourite player for years.


Also, who will get the #35 next? You couldn't get two completely different players from the last two wear the number (Simon Prestigiacomo and Peter Daicos). Perhaps Jarryd Blair should put his hand up to get the variability alive :)

Sad indeed, one of the few Collingwood players who supporters from all teams liked. He gained iconic status for no real reason other than he was simply "Presti".

He is a legend. One of the premier shut down full backs of our time, he did his job without regard for his own stats. Playing on great full forwards, week in week out without complaints.

Will definately be well remembered.

What an awesome idea Collingwood and Malthouse have done with #35


"“We will give the No.35 jumper to the first player that we choose (in the draft) and that player will hold that jumper for 12 months and understand the history of it and the responsibility of teamsmanship and professionalism displayed by Simon,” Malthouse said.

“He will then hand that jumper on to the following year's first-round pick.

"It's not often you’re able to do that and to have such a great player accept that. I hope he's always available to present that jumper to that new player.”


I'd also like to see #5 always be the captain :)
