reading thru this article http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/104897/default.aspx on the AFL website and saw this to be interesting

"Early mover: Chad Cornes joined the first- to third-year players for day one and is in close to the best pre-season shape of his career. He ran an impressive beep test, as did Daniel and Marlon Motlop."

will he have one last stab at premium DT backmen status

elephants

good research browny :) but i think there a plenty of cheap backs out there with more value however he could be a good unique ;)

browny_wce

mate more of a blast from the past moment rather than a serious goer
mpp always makes things interesting

Didn't he have a less than loving relationship with Choco? Maybe he's ready for one last fair dinkum crack at playing his best under a new coach who, if he's anything like his brother, won't accept anything less than 200%.  Of course this is all conjecture and guess work but who knows?  He could surprise us all but it would be a heroic act to put him in.

Plays a different game to Kane, obviously. But could be some worth in the guy. If he's fit n playing that floating CHB role he will chop up the stats like before. Would be a very bold move to start with him I think but not many people would have him but he could be an easy little first upgrade for a struggling rookie

Fanfooty Fan Planner info: Chad Cornes  C/B BAC $268,500
07 avg: 101.1, 08 avg: 85.5, 09 avg: 87.2,
in 2010 he only played the 1st 14 games and was heavily injured throughout the season, but averaged 62.8 with a 85, 98, 85 & 75 scores in rounds 5, 6, 7 & 8, coupled with a 77 & 78 in rounds 12 and 13.
his average was probly really let down by a 13 in round 11 tho
(in SC he had 5x 100+ scores in 2010)

at his price he could really be worth it!  ;D
and dont say he's too old as Heath Scotland had a stella DT year

elephants

jeex thanks guys now i am confused.....? :)

browny_wce

haha sorry LE

holzman and HP keep doing that to me talking about Fraser and Swan's potential DT futures

he is one to consider aye?  ;)

elephants

haha i am not even going to look at the swannie thread i dont need any doubt :)

browny_wce

Nah it was just Holz saying it'd be different to not have Swan in ur mids due to everyone having him and it being cheaper.
I went the option of no Swan or GAJ in my team to start with this year n probly didn't come off for me but ahwell.

adding a bit more juice to this theory of a resurrection of Chad Cornes
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/105011/default.aspx

he is nearing the end of his career but at 250k he is worthy if he can get an averge of 80+ and a few 100s in there, and if he is in favour with Primus he could get that CHB & midfield role he used to have and dream teamers will salivate
will deff go up in price

Holz

if could back into his old role, if he even gets remotely close to where he was a few years back could be one of the best pickups in the year. I remember when he was almost a goddard type lock in the backline

browny_wce

yeh Chad and Bowden were the first 2 players ud pick, along with Coxy and Bartel/Corey/Judd

elephants

hmmm back in the day :)

didnt start with swan, gaj or joey this year and my ranking was quickly punished :(

chad vs adcock for me and adcock should win ;)
