Just preparing my new-look squad before this weeks senior update. With my Senior Academy fast approaching 'excellent' I decided to invest in a few 20 yr old project players, meaning some of my older players will be cut after the Pavilion Cup campaign ends, and a short term match ratings decrease. But with the right training, these 20yr olds will become stars in the future  :)

Updated after senior training 31/3/11.

Obvious thing here is primaries are a SLOG. Numbers 2,3,4,5,6 and 12 are all age 20 and are all on primaries training, with all of these players increasing by less than 200. Kaleel is 23, so strength trains exactly the same from age 23 through to 27. Thomas and Stewart are both 28 and were on strength training last week and they went up by 270 compared to 298 at the end of last season. They also have slightly lower 'fitness' increases compared to younger players, although a 308 increase at age 28 is still good. Gangodawila is 22, so fielding still increases ok at this age (+260).
In my short experience of playing FTP, it seems like it is a waste to be training primaries after age 22/23, as the endurance and power training is MUCH more beneficial compared to primaries.

Some nice research you are doing there Baz ;)

I love my numbers CF  ;)  To me this is one of the most important aspects of the game - knowing exactly how much a player trains in each skill compared to their age, especially because I have many project players. This knowledge allows me to maximise their future training potential.

I was having a look at my change in Spare ratings this morning. I have a 22yo Gifted keeper - he is training in that ATM. I was curious as to how much a level increase in academy would have...

2 lousy points.... :-\ Hardly worth it for a gifted player training in his gifted talent!! All others were at most 3 increase on last week, depending on the training.

Maca24

Interesting fletch. so basically academies are a load of bulls**t

Cicjose

only worth putting money in youth so you can pull good players to sell by that analysis

Long term, it adds up ;). Short term it's no good and a waste of money if you are just starting out. Better to get a solid team first before academy.

I have Excellent in both Seniors and Youths to try and get my team up and going as the majority of them are still quite young and been playing for me for seasons (Some playing for 3-4) and I have player loyalty :D.

My standards are low though as I do it for fun and see my guys succeed :).
