Gloating toned down

So it is now over one month since the Pies demolished the poor Saints to take the flag. In reality this is not a long time but most people have not enjoyed the Pies masses enjoying their win, rubbing a little salt into the wounds of others. I might add that rarely did Collingwood supporters take aim at St.Kilda supporters, we felt their pain and would rather someone else be on the end of the loss.

With the possible exception of 1 player (allegedy) the celebrations were laregly very well behaved and over the past few weeks a very good time had.

BUT with the exception of the Copeland Trophy I think now the gloating is winding down. Over the summer the smile will be permanent and with the exception of letting Carlton realise how long 15 years is, it's back to business as usual and looking at how Tarrant, Krakour etc will add to the Premiership mix.

It's time to let others whine about the draw, the draft, the salary cap, jumper clashes, the byes but down at Collingwood we look at the controllables and hopefully back to back.  And as Geelong have shown, its not about rounds 1-13 that count (I'm sure Carlton will be talking top 4 again after 6 rounds) but looking at the business end of the season.

What do others think?

Turned down? I'm still telling this joke:

Q: Who kicked 5 goals in the 1990 final?
A: Essendon.

And that's a good 20 years ago.

No, no, no. Will be waving this is Bombers and Blues faces for quite some time yet :)

But beyond those two teams (they are a given) it settles down a little now I think.

That said I think it is very nice that the unfurling of the Premiership flag is in round 3 against Carlton. Making them watch it is lovely.

Boomz, for you the pain continues. You have never played the Premiers on Anzac Day before, it will be fun to inflict a 10 goal loss of the Golden Boy coach.

Naste, I can show you the Cup, wave it around but beyond that there is not much rivalry between Port & Collingwood. I could start saying that you traded in your stripes and added a lightening bolt to join the big boys but it is superficial.

In fact apart from Chad, I quite like Port. There is an old school B&W affiliation, you are a real club with soul unlike the Crows and it is troubling they you struggling financially. Actually I suspect Port supporters deep down may been one of the few clubs quietly supporting Collingwood in the GF.
