Nic Naitanui

2010 Stats
Games: 22
Total Score: 1566 (Ranked 126th overall, 9th amongst rucks)
Average Score: 71.18 (Ranked 244th overall, 14th amongst rucks)
High: 126 (Round 7)
Low: 43 (Round 12)
Standard Deviation: 22.37
Centuries: 3 out of 22
Starting Price: $304,900
High Price: $401,100 (round 9)
Lowest Price: $292,100 (round 20)

Summary:

Maybe being the favourite for the Rising Star Award became too much for NicNat this season, as he began the season off reasonable well scoring 2 of his centuries in the first 7 rounds and averaging 83.4, but then he fell away only averaging 65.5 for the remainder of the year, with a century in the last round of the season, and only 5 scores above 70 in those rounds.

Many people jumped on the Naitanui bandwagon at the beginning of the season thinking he would excel, despite it being his 2nd year, but if you didn’t trade him at about the Round 8 or 9 mark of the year you missed the boat as he was back down to his starting price by Round 14.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $378,000

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $360,000

Position: RUC

Going into his 3rd year, is NicNat ripe for the picking? He could provide you with that cash you need to upgrade later to that premium that you need to complete your rucks.

Decision:

Cox is aging, and we all know the potential that NicNat has. He’s destined to be a super star, but is he ready yet? The kid can do miraculous things, and that’s what SC is about, those 1%ers that are not recorded in the ordinary stats.

Naitanui will be 50/50 for me at the moment. With Petrie on so many radars, I’m just not sure how I’ll have my line-up as yet, whether Petrie will be a forward or in the ruck. I do suspect Naitanui will have a better year than last, however.

Gee that 2nd ruck spot is hard to pick. But if I was going to go with someone that isn't guaranteed high scores, I'd probably be more inclined to go with MPP's like Petrie or Tippett.

So 50/50 for me.... Would be great to cheer him on your team though! Similar feeling to wanting select Jurrah, they're just so exciting to watch

Very glad I didn't jump on him at all last year & there is no way I will this year. Maybe in 2-3 years but he has so much to learn to become a premium.

I hope he does though, he could be some sort of player to watch one day.

Exactly my thoughts. A no for next season but will be watching his progress next few years.

Better options for me for second ruck whether they are a little more dearer or cheaper.

Made a huge mistake taking him at the start this year.

Anyone he takes him next year, is just, eh... Stupid, I can't see any reason why you should take him.

saborn

Last I heard he was having a cyst removed from inside his shoulder joint or something like that and would have to have 4 months rehab over the pre-season

Well, if that's true, a huge No from me! Good info

CrowsFan

Had him all last year except traded him out in the last round when he scored a century :(
He is very exciting to watch and very athletic, but still needs to learn the tactics on how to play football. I wont pick him next year, but he could be a beast in a few years.

Maca24

i love nicnat  :) would love to pick him and i wont rule it out.

DazBurg

unlikely with that price tag
but i'll watch his preseason and could change my mind

just not consistent enough ... better to use his 2011 season as an assessment of whether he will mature into a decent SCer in the future.
