QuoteKaka was the best in the world with a fading ronaldinho and a up comng messi and ronaldo. He was great but def not top 3 forwards.

?????

8-6 Suited

And for starters, he never played with messi. He played behind Shevchenko in 04-05 at Milan. In the 06-07 season when Shevcenko left for Chelsea he took over playing Striker/Midfielder, rotating between them. Scored multiple hat-tricks, most goals in the champions league that season and was voted the best midfielder at the same time.

Oh yeah, thats when Messi only STARTED playing... Messi will be better  when he has pplayed for 10 years but isn't there yet. Not entirely anyway.

8-6 Suited

Also think he got footballer of the year then too, I remember because they beat Liverpool... The barbies.

CrowsFan

Well I don't think anyone beats my defense ;D even though I picked the 2 CB's last!!

Andrew3737

Actually, he didn't, Crespo did. Kaka played at the tip of the diamond, behind both of them.

In Kaka's best year : 18 goals 9 assists. Goalscoring machine?

Like I said, no one was even close to challenging him that year. Ronaldinho was over, Ronaldo and Messi era's began and Ibra starting to smashing goals in for fun.

EDIT - CF I think someone has Ferdinand and Nesta or Ferdinand and Carvalho.

CrowsFan

Benjy has Nesta and Carvalho, but follows that up with Neville and Evra.
Did you ever see Ayala or Kuffour play? Amazing defenders

Andrew3737

I seen a lot of Alaya. I was going to get him or Cris. Chose Cris because of that one year. Not much of Kuffour tbh. Few highlights here and there.

CrowsFan

Kuffour was at his peak when I really began to start watching soccer back in 99, before that I always kept up with results, but never really watched it that much. Kuffour was just amazing back then.

8-6 Suited

Doesn't matter what everyone else did for the year.. It's about the single players best years.

As for what he scored in his best years, which were 05-06, 06-07, 07-08, 08-09, they go as shown here:

05-06: 19 goals 5 assists
06-07: 18 goals 9 assists
07-08: 19 goals 12 assists
08-09: 16 goals 10 assists

He only switched between forward and Midfield... But was also hampered by a knee injury which he had surgery on last year I think.

But lets just let his awards for 07 alone say what needs to be said to which you argue:

This is purely for 07 alone, not to say he hasn't won them in other years.

Serie A Footballer of the Year
Serie A Foreign Footballer of the Year
UEFA Team of the Year
FIFPro World XI
Pallone d'Argento
UEFA Champions League Top Scorer
UEFA Champions League Best Forward
UEFA Club Footballer of the Year

FIFPro World Player of the Year
Ballon d'Or
FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball
Toyota Award
FIFA World Player of the Year
Onze d'Or
World Soccer Player of the Year
IFFHS World‘s Best Playmaker
IAAF Latin Sportsman of the Year

I bolded the ones of extreme significance to my point.

Also, Chistiano Ronaldo scored 23 goals, 19 assists in the same season yet was beaten significantly in the polling for the Ballon d'Or by Kaka. Says everything.

I don't think you get it. NO ONE was in their peak when Kaka was crowned "best in the world".

Put up better numbers the next year and easily beaten by Ronaldo and Messi.

Says everything ;)

8-6 Suited

So 07 was just an off season for everyone despite playing for absolute years? That's strange.

I never once said off season. I said no one were in their peaks. Ronaldo came second in his breakthrough season. Nuffsaid.

8-6 Suited

Don't worry mate, you know it all... No point arguing with your infinite knowledge of who was peaking and who wasn't.

All I can say is that it must have been a bad year for football fans around the world if no one was performing to their peak.

no worries brah.

Don't think you get it that I'm not saying he wasn't great. Top 3 forwards is a reach though. Henry went without a single major European individual accolade. He is a better player in this format. But w/e, I'm the guy that argues with everyone over everything obv.

Let's break down my team.

ST = #3
LW= #2
RW= #1
CM=#2
CM= #3
DM= #1
RB= top 3
LB = top 5
CB = top 6-7
CB= top 10
GK= top 10

I don't think many other teams are going to have  7 positions at top 3.

Top 3 in each position

ST: #1 Ronaldo #2 Henry #3 Sheva
CF: #1 Rivaldo #2 Kaka #3 Totti
LW: #1 Ronaldinho #2 Pires #3 Giggs
RW: #1 Messi #2 Ronaldo #3 Robben/Ljungberg
CM: #1 Davids #2 Ballack #3 Xavi/Pirlo
DM: #1 Makelele #2 Vieira #3 Cambiasso
LB: #1 R.Carlos #2 Cole #3 Zannetti
RB: #1 Maicon/Zambrotta #3 Alves
CB: #1 Cannavaro #2 Nesta #3 Ferdinand/Carvalho
GK: #1 Buffon #2 Casillas #3 VDS/Cesar
