Pods was the nail in the Gamble coffin.

Its interesting that none of Geelong's key young forwards have really developed into anything like A-grade players from Nathan Ablett, Gamble, Hawkins, Lonergan and Drum (although mainly used as a back).

Gamble might get another run somewhere as a mature-aged rookie. Reckon Carlton could use him

yeah was a little suprised as they got rid of Laidler Ranga and the guy who went to the Dogs... its a fair cleanout of fringe players with some old heads on their list

He'll get picked up by another team who isn't as strong as the Cats. It's a pity, he's a reasonable player.

Not really coz both those players asked to be traded... I'm surprised they didn't try harder to keep them though...

Geelong has half a dozen or so draft picks, including 2 fairly early ones, they may figure that they can be replaced fairly easily.
