Courtenay Dempsey

2010 Stats

Average Score: 77.00 (Ranked 185th overall, 53rd amongst defenders)
High: 120 (Round 19)
Low: 31 (Round 11)
Standard Deviation: 28.40
Centuries: 3 out of 20
Starting Price: $397,800
High Price: $426,900 (round 10)
Lowest Price: $316,100 (round 17)

Summary:

Dempsey has for the last 2 season at Essendon managed to almost play all games averaging in the 70’s for both seasons. He can be a little up and down at times, but he can produce the occasional good score.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $408,900

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $389,400

Position: DEF

The tip is that Dempsey might move into the midfield next year...

Decision:

If Hird decides to move Dempsey into the midfield, then with his run he might be a valuable player fantasy wise.

For me ATM, I’m going to put him down as a possible upgrade target as I think his price is a little too high to begin with. Once his price falls, and if he plays this midfield role, then I can upgrade a rookie.

Do you think Dempsey could be a diamond in the rough?

DazBurg

i agree with you fletch upgrade target if he gets put into the midfield

but consistency is what he needs to find for fantasy

This is the sort of original pick I could get behind. Unlikely for me, but still. Hard to judge with a new coach!

Every year there are players who go round in the NAB Cup who you think will have the break-out, step-up season. Courteny is a perennial, I even picked him a couple fo years ago and of course was inevitably let down.

But now I have the wisdom, like others of his genra including Armitage, Travis Tuck, Tambling, Armfield the answer has to be no, no & if you are tempted no.

Average players are average players.

no way from me. dont think he is much of a player and cant see him improving his scoring. just scrapes into the best 22 as well.

Just my two cents worth but he was an upgrade target then he would be considered a premium at that stage, but there would probably be a few fallen premis around at the same stage. If you consider him a potential premium why not jump on now at $400K? I won't be considering him..

In answer to that Samm, I'm more so looking at a time that he Dempsey may take a while to get going in his new role, therefore he may drop in price to somewhere in the vicinity of 300-350K.

A rookie back may be reaching his maximum price, and I think Dempsey could be a good pick up to bridge that gap to then upgrade later to a premium. This all depends on how many trades we are given etc for the year, but I don't see him as a premium just a potential good scorer who may be better in the second half of the year.

Well justified sir :)

Not for me. Might get a it of time through the middle during the year but even then I won't. Had him a couple of years back and he lost a lot of momentum points due to being a horrible defender and often turns the ball over.
