Heath Shaw

2010 Stats
Games: 19
Total Score: 1714 (Ranked 91st overall, 22nd amongst defenders)
Average Score: 90.21 (Ranked 79th overall, 20th amongst defenders)
High: 139 (Round 1)
Low: 57 (Round 21)
Standard Deviation: 25.94
Centuries: 6 out of 19
Starting Price: $503,100
High Price: $530,100 (round 4)
Lowest Price: $389,600 (round 12)

Summary:

Shaw was a very patchy player in 2010, although his Standard Deviation wouldn’t reflect that. His first 3 games averaged 122, first 6 averaged 108.5, then the next 5 only averaged 69.6, the next 4 averaged 107.5, then back down again for the next 4 to 71.25.

This reflects that Shaw is very much a form player. When he’s hot, he’s HOT!!, but when he’s cold, stay away!!

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $479,100

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $456,200

Position: DEF

A key Pie defender, who can win you games, but can also lose you games!!

Decision:

I tried Shaw in DT this year, but whilst I was happy with him early in the year, he really burnt me later. I will nominate him as 50/50, but he is bordering on being “Unlikely” for me.

Shaw is extremely risky!! He may be a good upgrade towards the end of the year when he’s hitting some form.

Will you risk Heater in 2011?

i agree with you fletch he is one of the most frustrating players for Fantasy some weeks he can smash it and others your left wondering where the hell it all went wrong

50/50 atm for me but doubt i'm gonna start with him
but like u said could be an upgrade target to jump on after he strings a couple of bad games together as he usually does

I'm short listing Premiership Player Heath Shaw, and could slip into my back 7 for sure (no pun intended).

This could be because for the last few weeks I've had "the smother" being replayed in my head again and again, and the fact that his two monster grand finals (Scored more SC points than any other Pie across the two grandfinals) suggests he is underpriced, and maybe step up a gear?

Who knows? Maybe Heath Shaw will go into All-Aus form next year? And there aren't many Magpie defenders to choose from from a fantasy perspective (Premiership Player Harry O'Brien and Premiership Captain Nick Maxwell do not score as high as Heater)

Can get tagged though

Like the stats Fletch.

I think the new Supercoach scoring system should suit Heath Shaw whereby any ledgendry feat which changes the course of a game immediately earns 100 SC points.

With this is mind he is close to a lock.  ;)

Maca24

you pies supporters! so biased  ;)
short listed for me. although i think there is better premiums.
surprised i havent seen him in any fanplanners  :o

BoredSaint

locked in at that price.. Cheaper than last season!

CrowsFan

Far too inconsistent for me. I used to like him, but not a fan anymore

Wilkopolis

Had him last year and rode the supercoach rollercoaster.  Might consider if it appears he'll play more up the ground to break the tag, but I'm not sure my heart can take another 22 rounds of Heath.

what is that you speak of cruise?

agree with you fletch, bordering unlikely and 50/50, very patchy.

very surprised by his respectable standard deviation, thought itd be higher

Is a very big roller coaster ride as seen him with the scoring & in a 1/2 has a ridiculos score in the lows and dang happens quite often as also had him last year. no not for me.

Boomz

I wouldn't ever pick him just coz i hate him in general plus he is way too inconsistent. & can't handle a tag.

Two great grand finals! Supercoach wise, scored more points than any other Magpie player across the two games

Sorry Ossie, have to agree with Naste on this one. That is the sort of roller coaster, Shaw takes you on...
