Summary: Hamish Hartlett joined Port Adelaide as one of the highest rated juniors at the end of the 2008 season. He has been decimated by injuries, playing a total of only 11 games. During these games he has shown bucketloads of potential, and some think he could be one of the superstars of the competition if he can get his body right, but can he?

The Crystal Ball:
Price: 406,300, 365,700 (10% discount) 329,100 (20% discount)
According to last years magic number

Price: 232,100
According to m0ntys fanplanner

Position: MID

Verdict: Is definently on my radar, as another alternative for David Swallow or Foley in the midfield.  Another good thing about him is that there are
not a lot of classy port midfielders for SC(maybe besides Boak) so this will work in his favour with the bye situation. Will watch pre-season, but selecting him would be a massive risk because of his past.
Will you pick Hartlett in 2011?

Could be an interesting player. One to watch for sure. On my short list for the moment, but need to see some form in the Pre-Season for me to select him.

His price looks good though, especially on m0nty's fanplanner

Hmmm... perhaps!

Hamish does look tempting.... but for some reason I see him as too risky.

agree with you ossie his tempting but very risky

Maca24

yea seems to get a lot of soft tissue injuries to. which is bad at his age.
like the kid and ill watch him, but no from me atm.

CrowsFan

At the m0nty has him at he looks very tempting. If he has got his body right by round 1 he will get a decent look in by me

ronl

He could go well and he's on myl ist to keep an eye on, but I would definately have Foley ahead of him at this stage.

"twang!" ... well not quite but sad inj news for him once again ...

Cruel hamstring blow for Port Adelaide's Hamish Hartlett
Source: Herald Sun dated 24 Jan 2011

PROMISING Port Adelaide midfielder Hamish Hartlett's pre-season has again been derailed by a hamstring injury.
Hartlett, rated a potential star, was restricted to just four games last year by hamstring injuries which initially flared last pre-season.

The 20-year-old strained his right hamstring at training today, a club spokesman said.

Hartlett will have scans but is expected to miss the next three weeks of training.

The classy onballer has suffered a series of soft tissue leg injuries since being recruited with Port's No.4 pick in the 2008 national draft, managing just 15 games for the club.

The news has soured reports David Rodan is set to make another remarkable comeback and play against Collingwood in Round 1 after a second LARS knee operation.

The Port Adelaide midfielder needed a second round of knee surgery after the artificial ligament used in his original operation failed in November.

- left out bits on David Rodan, J Surjan and T Boak ... will post in Port AFL thread ...

Very upsetting has the potential to be a star

Boomz

Could be a star yes but he's majorely injury prone... Won't pick him until he shows he can play a full season.

Knowall

This guy is so classy and has very silky skills, he will be a very good player and im not just saying that because he was a high draft pick.
A real shame those hammys cant stay fit for any sustained amount of time, he wouldve represented very nice value, even tho its only a small injury ill say unlikely now.
If fit in future years hell be a SC gun

Same with me

antman

Way too risky imo to pick this kid I'll wait till he plays a full year to make a assessment on him.
