Pros and Cons:

Ablett:
Pros:
- Number 2 average player of 2010
- Game breaker
- Accurate kick
- Often rests up forward and kicks goals
- 44 goals this season could put him in contention for MPP MID/FWD status

Cons:
- Comes with a hefty price tag
- At GC now, so will lack support amongst the midfield.
- Also, now that he is at GC, some won't want to double up with other options in the midfield such as Swallow, Bennell and co.

Swan
Pros:
- Number 1 scoring player of 2010
- Game breaker
- Accurate kick
- Can put up with a tag, runs taggers off their legs.

Cons:
- Comes with hefty price tag
- As Krakouer will be very popular, if you take Swan as well you will have two pies in mids, not a huge biggie.

Verdict:

I think this is a very hard call to make considering we have two of the most prolific scores in SC history.  Swan has proved this year that he, along with Goddard are the consistency kings.  Ablett can post the ridiculous score.

Many were in my opinion too critical of Ablett late in the labeling him as Crablett, Captain Spud, etc.  But what he have to remember is this guy averaged 130 this year.  He's bloody good.

Swan showed us that he is freak as well finishing the season with a mind-boggling SEVENTEEN CENTURIES STRAIGHT.  That's impressive.

Overall, i would be happy with either, maybe both, but gun to my head, if i had to take one, it'd be Swanny.
Who would you select?

Have you been getting the pros from my SC Strategy volumes ;)

For this, Swan, I am sure GAJ will have a good season but not sure how good without the protection of the bigger bodies of the cats also unsure how effective he will be, DT is another problem though due to the GC using GAJ whenever they can :)

Maca24

swan is the safer option. nobody knows how gaza will score at GC.
think gaza is an upgrade target. and swan should score high from the get go.

lol but swan never rests up forward! he always comes on and off the bench and straight into the middle.

he kicked 24 goals though..

I will admit I haven't watched that many Collingwood games, but does Swan really rest up forward? I thought he would go to the bench for 5 minutes then come out run like a lunatic for 10 then back to the bench for another 5 minute spell?

For me I don't think I will be picking either since I want to go with a Selwood/Pendlebury combo, but being forced to pick one I think I would go Swan, just for the fact we don't know what will happen at the GC

that wasn't from resting up forward, that was from just chasing the footy around like it was a victorias secret model!

Nice little write up JT :).

I prefer Swan as he is an impact player and sure gets his job done ;).

And he has spells on the bench not the forward line. Most interchanged player if I can remember.
