Summary:

From 2005, Joel Corey's yearly average has been 105.3, 98.3, 107.5, 108.9, 107.9 and 87.8. One of these things is not like the other.

Corey is one of the most underrated midfielders in the competition (lets face it, it isn't hard to go unnoticed when Ablett, Selwood and Bartel are on your team), and 2010 saw him riddled with injuries and he never looked fit. Frustrated fantasy coaches who picked him up at the beginning of the year saw him disappear for weeks on end, and his price erode to practically nothing.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $466,400 ($419,800 with an extremely unlikely 10% discount)

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $444,100

Position: MID

Very small chance of a 10% discount. I would be VERY surprised if that occurred.

But look at that price, and compare it to last year. Compare his average to those of years gone by. Corey is underpriced. Significantly. If he gets match fit, you would imagine he would score around the 100 mark again. Things to take note however is that Ablett is gone. Will this give him more attention? He still has Selwood and Bartel to pick up some of the flack. At 29 years of age, he should still have at least a couple of good years left in him.

Decision:

Shortlisted. Almost a lock if his preseason shows anything. If you get Corey, chances are you won't be able to have Selwood or Bartel, food for thought.

Anyone?

at that price his on the short list
only problem is i do like taking selwood every year
will watch his preseason then make my choice depending on salary cap
as to which way to go

I would agree Ossie, at that price you can't ignore him, but you have to also consider his age, plus the fact that GAJ is gone now!

He's also always been more of a DT gun than SC, but he is underpriced and will have to be looked at if he has a good pre-season.

How many people will have Selwood, Bartel, etc before him?? That's the other big question.

On that basis, he could turn into a very good unique. Definitely tempting

Boomz

I'll pass on him but he is tempting....

This is what I would say. Extremely tempting, he will might just slip him for cash issues, as I'm not locking him in unless his official price is even lower  :P

short list for me. at that price you have to consider him. proven performer

Justin Bieber

Anything 500k for him is a bargain!!! Gonna be on my shortlist for sure 8).

Will see how he goes pre season and how the cats midfield lines up. Shouldn't get a tag with Selwood, Bartel and Chappy there so a safe bet from that perspective.

BoredSaint

unlikely for me..
getting a bit old

Got the feeling that Geelong may be starting to unravel a bit and it may not be so easy anymore for some of these guys.  Just a feeling.

BratPack

50/50. He's injury prone but when he plays he scores big. At that price it's tempting.

Cruiseon

A definite maybe. There is upside.

Wilkopolis

Selwood is my pick from the Cats and injuries are becomming a real concern

AndyJ

Rumors of a degenerative knee have been going around Geelong lately .. would be very careful.
