In what seems to be the last trade of Trade Week. Gold Coast swap pick 15 to Geelong for one of the compensatory first round draft picks they had to give Geelong in the Gary Ablett steal.

Thoughts?

Gold Coast did awesome with all compensation picks over the next few years.

Well done to the Cats.

Surely win-win

Win-Win me thinks.

GC building a future team with all these "future" picks. Cats get an early pick this year which can prolong their premiership window a little longer. Can pick up a good midfielder in this draft to help fill the void Ablett left. Won't do much but a gain is still a gain.

Win-Win for sure... GC are going to be a very scary side in a few years... 1 question can they trade them again if they wanted to?

Ireckon GC wins better draft pick to have i reckon

They're going to be one strong team in 3-4 years time!!

I think its a win-win for the both clubs.  GC get to "bank" another pick and the Cats get to pick up a youngster from a strong draft group that they can then put some time in to.  Then they can still use their other compo pick from 2012 - 2014 and pick up another young talent.

I'm wondering how this pick assists Geelong's Premiership window?

I'm assuming they will use this on a youngster who won't be adding to the Premiership squad for 2-3 years. Lets exclude Selwood who was a freak.

I agree Cruise - this pick wont help them "extend" their premiership window.  It will be so that they can get a top pick and develop them over the next couple of years.

I agree. knowing Geelongs list managers, they have something or someone in mind.
