Summary:

Height: 186cm, Weight: 81kg, DOB: 28/09/1992
Recruited from: Northern Knights
Style: Luke Ball (early career)/ Michael Voss/ Ben Cunnington
Range: 8-32

Caddy is a courageous tough nut who isn’t afraid to put his body on the line. He thinks he is a bull with the way he plays. Tackles hard and when moved forward can kick his share of goals. Very good kick of the footy. At U18 level he relies too much on physically beating his opponents which may not translate at AFL level because there will be bigger, stronger bodies who he will struggle against. But at this stage really represents outstanding value and could easily go 10 + positions higher than this. Upside is a little questionable with his style of play but he should be able to play sooner rather than later and represents outstanding value at this stage. While Melbourne don’t need more mids at this stage with Caddy available why not go for the value and pick up some KPPs later?

An absolute clearance machine, he is powerful in the contest and reads the game extremely well. He will develop into a physically intimidating midfielder once he fills out in the coming years.

He is a powerful player who wins clearances and contested marks who is a dangerous forward who averaged 24 possessions was All-Australian this year.

AA u/18 midfielder, who dominated at TAC Cup level.

I have him going to either North Melbourne, Melbourne, Essendon or Gold Coast.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on price of last year's draftees

Price: Hard to say, between 100k - 150k

Based on m0nty's fanplanner

Price: 127,500

Position: MID

Decision:

I think Josh Caddy will play lots of footy in 2011.  He is very tempting as he is a cheap draftee, unlike Bennell and Swallow and there is also very big raps on him.  The fact that he is likely to be at another club apart from Gold Coast is also good due to the bye.
Will you select Josh Caddy in 2011?

Caddy ends up a Gold Coast Sun

Unfortunately, probably means I won't pick him now.
