roo boys!

Other thread says he isn't going to the Dons :(

hawk_88

Not going to the Dons and might not be at the Cats next year either. Burnout apparently. Totally understandable.

Find it hard to believe its just a coincidence that the hour after Hird is announced as coach Bomber meets with Geelong and suddenly tells them he needs a break... for 3 months, the amount of time he has to give if he wants out... Could be wrong but something isn't right.

hawk_88

You may be right. Who knows... yet anyway.

Hird did mention on the couch last night that he wanted Bomber but didn't expect to get him, or something to that effect anyway.

He had always been pretty strong about finishing up at the end of next year. I think he does find it very stressful, otherwise why would he be so sure of it over 2 years away.

Cats on the down and bombers on the up   ;)

Gotta love that!!  8)

Alex7089

I believe we all do, Bomber would be helpful to the latter there but apparently not >:(

bunyip

Bomber has ALWAYS said he will not coach another team.

roo boys!

Alex7089

I don't want to offend you bunyip but I really doubt that.
He may not be senior coach of another club, as clearly match day coaching isn't his thing, but I have no doubt he will take up a role of some sort in the coming years.

hawk_88

What people say is often shaped by what they can say in context. As a senior coach of one club, you cannot suggest that at some stage you will coach another club.

Just like GAJ (and every other Suns recruit) constantly said that they were yet to make their mind up. They were told by the Suns not to tell anyone that they had made their mind up and they didn't.

Boomz

Reports just now are he's told the cats he's leaving but I reckon he's just gonna have a rest for at least a year...

bunyip

Do you really think Bomber would be satisfied with an "assistant coach's" position?
You guys are dreaming. He's achieved just about everything you can in football, and now he's had enough and wants to do something else. Is that really so hard to believe?

Alex7089

No not really I expect he will not get involved in a single club for a long time. He is in a similar position to the one Sheedy was in a few years back. He has done everything that is possible and now he needs a break. He needs to be the one watching not coaching.

DWEBBY5

my brother is mates with jobe watson and jobe says that he was at essendon (windy hill) for a meeting and bomber told them he was unsure and will most likly have a break

Alex7089

Fair enough if I was him I would probably want the same, I mean, he has basically been in the thick of it since he debuted.
It is a long time.

Time to get out for a while :)
