Nick Dal Santo

2010 Stats
Games: 21
Total Score: 2362 (Ranked 10th overall, 10th amongst midfielders)
Average Score: 112.48 (Ranked 12th overall, 11th amongst midfielders)
High: 170 (Round 21)
Low: 46 (Round 7)
Standard Deviation: 31.08
Centuries: 14 out of 21
Starting Price: $614,600
High Price: $614,600 (round 1)
Lowest Price: $490,600 (round 20)

Summary:

NDS is one of the superstars of the competition, no doubt. But does that translate to being a supercoach star? An average of 112.48 would suggest yes. I have a slightly different opinion though.

Dal Santo scores massively. 11 of his 14 centuries were 120 or more. The problem is that sometimes his scores can dip lower than a premium should (he had scores of 78, 65, 46, 77, 76 in 2010). Hence his high standard deviation, and the fact he is not as popular as perhaps he should be.

His price dipped too its lowest point in round 20. Had clever coaches picked him up then, they would have been very pleased with Dal scoring 170 and 124 in his last two matches. I'm sure that was the difference for some premiership coaches!

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $597,400

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $568,800

Position: MID

* Note, have now included prices from m0nty's fan planner. I'm not sure where his number came from but I don't doubt his wisdom! The problem with using m0nty's number is you can't compare players prices in 2010 with 2011 as the scale has changed. So both are included.

No reason to think Dal Santo won't have similar output in 2011. The Saints have an abundance of superstar midfielders in Hayes, Goddard and Montagna so he won't always get the most attention. His price is very expensive however, and I doubt he will be able to maintain that.

Decision:

Upgrade target. Dal Santo has shown he is a purple-patch player, and I plan to wait until he has a low score, and pick him up a few weeks after that. In the mean time, I'd be more confident selecting Goddard or Montagna.

I'd agree Ossie, he's definately more of an upgrade target. He is a little inconsistent at times and could be costly if you had him from the start. One to watch though.

he often gets the tag but he has good disposal so is good at SC but he can get tagged out of it occasionally so will wait for a bad match or 2

Had him the whole season last year :) and he saved me when he pulled out one game and my emergency came in and scored 124 so that i won by a point :)

Bosh

Nope for some reason I just don't go near him.

Justin Bieber

Started with him this year. Had a slow start but showed why he is a SC gun 8).

Doubt he'll feature in my squad next year. Gets a tag :-\. Likely starting/upgrade Saint in Joey. So wouldn't want to have 2 saints in the one position.

Very Consistent
I'd disagree with that. Sometimes he struggles to shake a tag. A std dev of 31 is not that consistent

dylsta05

yeah i dont think his consistent either

Barlow 21

ooops  :o Sorry guys, I meant to say very inconsistent. He has had low scores of 78, 65, 46, 77 and 76.

If you want to talk about consistent you can't go past Marc Murphy. In 2009 he had a standard deviation of 14.21  :o and this year his standard deviation was 18.78!

Justin Bieber

I had Murphy in 2009 8). Very happy with that choice.

Only thing was, he scores below 100 the day I lose the Grand Final by 1 point >:(. He got Blacklisted for that ;D.
