Hey guys. Made this team and relatively happy with it. A few risks to make the game a little more exciting next year ;D. Can you guess who they are ;).

Defence:
Brett Deledio, James Kelly, Greg Broughton, Brad Symes, Shannon Hurn, Bachar Houli, Christian Howard (Daniel Talia, Sam Iles, Josh Toy)

Pretty happy with that line. Not the biggest names but solid players. Symes should get a run in the midfield. Dlids and Brought should keep on improving. Hurn very underpriced for what he can do. Rookies still up in the air but generally happy even with two Sun players. Fairly happy with the 5 keepers from the get go here.

Midfield:
Joel Selwood, Joey Montagna, Matthew Boyd, Scott Pendlebury, Matthew Pavlich, David Swallow (Mitch Hallahan, Xavier Clarke, Andrew Krakouer)

I really like the looks of that line. Selwood and Pendles should keep on growing. Boyd was a lock (has been for years). Really like the rookies 8). Joey and Pavlich came in to replace Petterd and Swallow.
Rucks:
Patrick Ryder, Zac Smith (Max Bailey, Jack Fitzpatrick)

Tough not to include Sandi here. Happy with Ryder and can hopefully get in Sandi over the course of the year after a bad game. Smith should see alot of game time and so should Bailey. Fitzpatrick is a roughy if the Demons look to find a back up behind Jamar. Don't like his chances but will likely change come trade period and pre season. Very risky move here but allows the extra gun midfielder.

Forwards:
Paul Chapman, Nick Riewoldt, Alan Didak, Adam Goodes, Chris Knights, Drew Petrie, John Butcher (Charlie Dixon, Andrew Hooper, Brandon Matera)

Have 4 Guns in which looks good. Knights returning from injury should see alot of gametime likely off the half forward line. Rookies up in the air but all should get games next year. A good blend of rookies here. 2 GC rookies here also a big risk which I don't really want. I'll expect Matera to be shown the door during the preseason.

Rookies will be aplenty next year in the midfield and up forward. Likely to play a rookie on field at least there. Likely 2 or 3 in the midfield to stock up elsewhere like this season.

EDIT: New Team Below

Updated my team to what it now looks like here:
Defence:
Brett Deledio (B/C), James Kelly (B/C), Greg Broughton, Shannon Hurn, Josh Drummond, Andy Otten, Micheal Coad (Tendai Mzungu, Cameron Richardson, Daniel Talia (B/F))

Fairly strong first 5 with Hurn and Drummond fallen stars. They are too cheap to pass up for me.

Midfield:
Paul Chapman (F/C), Matt Priddis, Matthew Boyd, Andrew Swallow, David Swallow, Andrew Gaff (Dyson Heppell (B/C), Mitchell Wallis, Myles Sewell)

Tried something a little different with the midfield. Threw Heppell for a bench spot for MPP purposes. Fairly happy with the line with Priddis in as a unique.

Rucks:
Patrick Ryder, Drew Petrie (Max Bailey, Zac Smith)

Hard not to put Sandi in but he is just too dear next season. WIll hopefully upgrade to him when he falls and Petrie grows 8).

Forwards:
Nick Riewoldt, Alan Didak (F/C), Matthew Pavlich (F/C), Jonathan Brown, Shaun Higgins (F/C), Robbie Gray (F/C), Jack Darling (Charlie Dixon, Andrew Hooper, John Butcher)

I'm pretty happy. Able to get 4 guns and still have enough room to take my risk on Higgins and Gray. I love watching them play and know they are capable of alot more when fit. The MPP with the mids could be a lifesaver if somebody goes down early and only a minor injury.

DazBurg

only two things i don't like is pettard too inconsistent
and higgens too injury prone
other then that looks goo so far HP

Justin Bieber

Yeah. Needed a cheap MPP for Forward/Centre who would get games :P. He was cheap and can play.

I know Higgins burnt me this year. But I don't know why but I'm hooked on him and Gray :P. They are two of my favourites to watch as they are exciting. And I like choosing players I like watching as well as there is no point choosing players you don't like :P.

true true
but in saying that there is a point where u need to think it throughly and not just pick the players u like
otherwise i'd have half the bombers side...lol

Justin Bieber

I need to chuck in a bomber somewhere...... Unless Houli stays :-*.

Higgins could still be dropped since it's still early ;). Same with Gray. But at this stage, both are chances and fit into the cap :P.

Still had a good 100k left after this team was made.

Justin Bieber

Could possibly take Pendles spot :P.

I like it :)

I reckon Andy Otten will burn people this year (like Palmer)

First draft, great stuff though!

Justin Bieber

Otten could burn us all but at that price, worth the risk.

Cheers for the comments you two.

Maca24

nice HP. Gray and higgens takes guts to pick those 2 but i commend u.  :)
I really like your backs though. Nice mix of cheap and premium.
maybe gray to petterd and higgens to goodes/rioli. Just my opinion well done  :D

Justin Bieber

Petterd in the middle already. Understand everybody got burnt by Higgins and Gray this year but I still have a gleeming light for them.

Goodes is close to replacing one of them but more likely to opt to go ROK if he doesn't play a tagging role. He's very underpriced and will likely come in for Higgins if he plays off half forward instead.

Thanks for the comments Maca.

Maca24

no worries. i didnt see petterd  :-[
whats your thoughs on swan, goddard and sandi?
Are they upgrade targets for you or are you looking for guys to take the next step?

Justin Bieber

Upgrade targets definately. They are priced so highly, even 1 bad game can bring them down quite a bit. They are guns no doubt with alot of people starting with them.

I'm taking a slightly riskier approach leaving them out to start but have chosen Young players who like you said are on the rise. Dlids, Pendles, Selwood and Ryder are all on the up. They have plenty of upside to give and should be solid picks. There is always room in my team for those guys ;).

This year I jumped on Goddard at his lowest price (below 600k and he went on a streak after that) not to mention Joey at a near low price. Throw in Goodes as well for good measure half way through the year at below 400k 8).

Didn't do all that well this year so hopefully next year is different ;D.

Maca24

awesome  :) nice strategy. I will be trying to get the big guns in, but also some blokes on the rise. And ill be staying away from most mid pricers as ziebell and danger burnt me last year. but yea good luck 2 ya. rate my team if u like lol

CrowsFan

Looks a very solid team HP. I like that you have gone Selwood and Pendles as your number 2 mids. I have done the same and they should both improve again.

Just a point of interest. What were you ranked at the end of the season?
