You have got to be kidding hawk_88. There is no way on earth that richmond will give up 2 players, one of which was a first round pick for a dud like Blake when they already have plenty of ruckmen. You've lost the plot!!!

There would most likely be picks involved, however Richmond's ruck stocks aren't great yet. They need a ruckman of experience in the mix, especially as big men take time to develop.

Blake has played over 100 games, has finals experience and at 25 might be considered for a position in the leadership group. He has come from a club that has elite culture, elite results and elite systems and structures. He would be considered quite valuable by Richmond.

The fact that Tambling was a 1st round draft pick is irrelevant. He is 24. 6 years of senior footy is where his worth will be determined. He wouldn't be in the top 10 players at Richmond. You would be lucky to get a second round pick if you put him on the open market. However a change of scenery might be good for him, one with a culture of excellence especially. Geelong lacks some speed which he could offer.

Geelong's defence might be changing a bit over the preseason and Polo might fit in there well.

I think if Geelong gave a 3rd round pick + Blake for Tambling + Polo both sides would be very happy.

Also with Houli I think it probably depends on who the coach of Essendon is.

Absolute Rubbish Hawk. Blake is useless, all the young ruckmen on Richmonds list have more ability on their little finger than Blake does. Your theory is probably the worst I've heard in some time and I've heard a fair bit of crap too!!!

Given that he has played over 80 games in the past 4 years for arguably the best team in decades simply saying that he is "rubbish" doesn't hold much weight. Why is he rubbish? What is he doing wrong? Why would Bomber favour him over King and Mumford? He can't be totally rubbish.

He isn't great around the ground, but is a very good tap ruckman, something that Richmond need.

108 Games in 5 Years doesn't mean he is the best ruckmen.

Have you thought about how he got those games? Ottens is really there only good ruckmen, and he is struggling with injury. Hawkins is normally named as a Forward. Blake was also given extra games when Mummy and King was around, because he was young and Mummy and King were in bad form.

In 2007, King was injured for most of the year, playing 5 games. Ottens also battled with injury playing 15, and Mumford wasn't at Geelong in 07'. Meaning Blake was forced to play as he was pretty much the only other ruckmen!

Not saying he is the best ruckman, but they let King go at the end of 07 in favour of Blake. They favoured Blake over Mumford in the best 22 so Mumford sought out a club where he could get a game. You don't play 100 games by pure luck.

I'm not saying he is a gun, far from it. However to simply state he is "useless" without qualifying that with any arguments or examples is a nothing statement. Quite clearly he has some semblance of talent.

Blake will hold some currency at the trade table and if you look at Richmond's ruck stocks, you have Graham as the number one, who is average at best, Vickery who has some potential, but is still very green and needs a lot of development and Browne who has shown very little. Between the 3 of them there is 66 games of experience. A 23 year old and two 20 year olds.

Blake is a good tap ruckman and exactly what Richmond need. Not just for their ruck stocks, but also to help the young midfield develop. Having a good tap ruckman will help the midfield develop in clearances, especially inside players like Martin.
