The Dogs had a good year but weren't good enough for the 4 quarters to beat the Saints. The retiring of Johnson and aging of other players could hurt.

But a plus that could of come out of last night was the emergence of the Unheralded Addison, Picken, Grant and Ward. All of them aren't the best players but are hard workers. Addison and Picken were hard over the ball, Grant was great around the grounds and provided some spark. Ward was one of the Dogs best players in probably the performance of his career. Always liked Ward. Roughie in my fantasy teams next year.

Hopefully Next Year, The dogs can still keep up with the bigger dogs. They have the talent to be able to not drop too much in the next few years. Got to be a team to watch out for if injuries can be overcome.

The Dogs have now lost 8 in a row against the Pies, Cats and Saints. This being the benchmark, they have had a terrible year.

Sure, they finished 4th. Barely. Had Freo not had so many injuries, I doubt they would have got that.

The Dogs should have a long hard look at themselves. No point in patting themselves on the back and say 'well, we're better than 12 other teams' when they've made the top 4 three years in a row.

Premiership was there aim this year. Did they do it? No. Did they look even in the same class as the other top 4? No. Therefore terrible year.

all correct except...maybe downgrade from terrible to unacceptable?

Their record against top teams are poor. But they did get a few injuries after the halfway point of the year. They were in the same position as Freo so can't hold that against them (even if Freo lost Barlow).

In all, your way was right. You took a pessimistic view on things. I'm more optimistic and looked towards the future. But for this year, guess you could be right. But they certainly have a few pups coming through who should be good solid players for them in the future.

The Dogs do have some very good youngsters - especially Ward and Grant. But are they any better than the young talent at every other club?

Yeah, I was being a bit pessimistic! Trying to be realistic though, the Bulldogs have got to start playing like winners. The club is so accustomed to 'honourable' performances, that they simply can't celebrate yet another top 4 position.

That's why I doubt they will break their premiership drought anytime soon :'(.

I'd have to agree with Ossie, sorry HP, the Dogs just can't be happy with the result this year. Their benchmark would have been to have beaten the other 3 sides and win the flag, thus realistically they didn't achieve their goal this year.

woofy

winning a flag is every teams goal. this year the dogs goal was to make it to a grand final which they failed in. i believe they would of had a much better chance of making it if it wasn't for the flu or whatever it was that hit the team late in the season. they were playing good football up until then and were never the same with their breathing problems. Nick Riewoldt is a superstar. If it wasn't for him the dogs would of gotten through to the granny. over the years of watching the dogs vs st kilda it has always been him that brings the dogs down. :( i hope st kilda beat collingwood though.

Justin Bieber

Yeah. That flu going around was killer.

Young Tom Williams was up against Roo for most of the match :o. Good learning curve for him but reckon Morris should of taken him instead of Milne. Would of held him maybe a bit better. Lake already had Kosi :P.
