roo boys!

Will Medhurst, Presti, Lockyer, Ball, Davis play in a Grand Final next week?

Collingwood fans, who will play out of this bunch?

8-6 Suited

Have to wait a few days to see how everyone pulls up first. I don't think any changes are going to be made from the current line up. Except for maybe Nathan Brown out for Presti.

Boomz

Probably Goldsack out ahead of Brown.

Master Q

Leigh Brown? Leigh Brown has dropped the spud and picked up the Big X?

So do you think Ball will pull up fine?
You would want Presti back in with the two big forwards if Saints win, or he could take Bazzy if Dawgs win.

Ball should be fine, he was fine in the pools this morning. Little tender but seemingly fine.

Presti was close to a recall for last nights game but narrowly missed selection. However, he is better suited against the slower game style that St. Kilda deploy than Geelongs much faster pace. That pace wasn't there last night, they looked old and tired which I think is the reason they lost. They just didnt seem energetic like the have the past 2-3 seasons.

With Presti in, and Ben Reid, there is no need for Nathan Brown. N Brown is a replacement for Presti when he can't play/isn't 100. Goldsack isn't as he is more athletic than both, more suited to the likes of Schneider. Split Kosi and Big Nic between Presti and Reid with chop outs from Maxwell and Shaw, you got their big fellas blanketed.

If the Dogs win, I'd want to see Presti standing him for sure. Reid can take Johno.  Brown once again doesn't fit with that gameplan.

8-6 said it pretty well

Short answer: No, Unlikely, No, Yes, Maybe (unfortunately)

Yeah you're right 8-6, that's what I love about watching the Pies defence, they work so well together to get in the contest and chop it off so players like Reiwoldt never get 1 on 1 contests if they can help it, which is really the best way to shut him out of the game.

Collingwood is a forward defensive team, keeping it in their fwd fifty for an average 14 mins longer per game than any other team in the AFL.
This is why Medhurst and Davis will not play - their forward defensive pressure is not up to team expectation and the speed of the game has passed them by. Both are still capable of the match turning mercurial effort, but it is team effort that wins finals not individuals.
Presti or Nathan Brown may be the toughest decision, it will certainly depend on opponent - Simon will be cheering for Doggies tonight  ;)
Takyn Lockyer, sorry mate but if Luke Ball gets up to continue his rotating role with the rest of the Pies engine room you will be watching from the stands  :'(

8-6 Suited

It's hard for me to accept that you say Leon Davis' forward pressure is nt up to team expectations when he has basically been probably one of the top 5 in the team in forward 50 tackles, plus the pressure he applies is why even in his form slump he was still kept in the team. On Medhurst you are correct McRoosted but Davis you are a bit off.

I don't think N.Brown will be dropped, he has played very well in the absence of Presti and I would see it as unfair for him to be dropped now, similar to Blake of '07.
Goldsack would be more likely to make room, but Presti may not even be fit.

IMO only 8-6  ;)
That's the advantage you get for living in Melbourne and the insight you get, I was probably only going on what I saw in his games played (during slump - yes) and he looked slow and lethargic. I posted something at the time in SC players and trades ....

Defensive pressure, as opposed to flooding, is causing lower scores for small forwards. Higher rotations mean increased capacities to run for faster, longer and the greater ability to defend a space.
The game has caught up with Leon.

I love seeing him on fire and hope he gets in, a bit like an indigenous Daicos! Worth the entry price for everyone at the ground. 8)
