who presents the medal to ablett if he wins

Justin Bieber

aces-high

Juddy for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bunyip

Well done Juddster, a surprise winner except possibly to Carlton fans

hawk_88

When you consider how much he carries Carlton and how much of that time is spent earning his own ball under the nose of the umpire it is of little surprise that he won.

Agree with that.

I cant get excited about this.  Judd with the win - no way he was the best player this year.  He also should have been suspended when he elbowed Pav in the nose.

im happ the umpires made the right choice for once, easily the best player, single handly got carlton into the 8, no other player could do that. If swan was in the blues he wouldnt have been close to the top 10. the only downside was hodge didnt get as many votes as he deserved, for me the best 3 players this year were judd, ablett and hodge light year ahead of everyone else

Agree Valk, he was very lucky in that incident.

Yes, Judd was extremely lucky not to get suspended. Extremely.

Well done Juddy though! Superstar

Agree Valk, he was very lucky in that incident.

How the hell did he get 2 votes against Freo when McPhee tagged him out of the game.  Yes he got 30 touches but none of them were damaging, had any real dazzling effect or brought Carlton back in to the game.

TAKE THE VOTING OFF THE UMPS - Disgraceful.  GAJ, Swan, Boyd, Selwood, Watson, Cross - even Sandi would have been much more deserving winners.

Please dont take this as me bagging Judd because I am not - he is a great player - he did not deserve the Brownlow this year and it goes to show that the umpires have favourite players and blinkers on for all other players.  Even Brian Lake should have scored more votes.  Barlow should have got votes for his 1st game (30 touches and a couple of goals) but because he was a nobody to the umps ---- 0 votes.

There must be a conspiracy behind this - because I have looked up the results (on the Herald Sun) and the votes for Round 13 (Carlton v Freo) are not there.  The Round 13 results are actually the round 14 results.

Everyone always forgets the 'fairest' part of equation. Who knows what criteria the umpires use? Doesn't matter.

We have media awards, coaches awards, players awards - why not an umpires award?

Why should our highest individual award be an "umpires award"

Why shouldn't it?

Four awards - Umpires, Players, Coaches, Media.

Umpires - do not have the benefit of hindsight, stat sheets, replays and are (understandably) attracted to flashy players. However, they are actually on the field.

Players - go on stats. Most players don't actually watch a lot of football, and only have there own experience to go to. They have the advantage of actually playing against other players., and generally go with the flow.

Media - Always has there own agenda. "Look at us, we think this guy is the best, so should you, but our paper!" and are often too focused on stats or opinions.

Coaches - Are prone to bias of certain players, but can give forwards/defenders more of a look in.

None of them are perfect. The Brownlow is the hardest to get, the hardest to predict, that is why is is the top award.

I was suprised Barlow didn't get more votes. Surely he had a massive effect on more games than that? ???.
