Trade for Taz

It's not really harsh on him, he had more lack luster games than good ones. Even against freo in round 21 he didn't look interested and only got involved when others tried to bring him into the game. I'm not a roughy hater but just think that mentally he'd perform better at another club where he would be the out and out focal up forward. For as much as him and Buddy worked well in 2008, it just doesn't seem to work now and I think he'd love a fresh start too.

They were 3rd and 8th on the goal tally. 8th!. They were statistically the best forward pair of any club and if Roughy was more accurate it would have been ever better.

If you watched him play, especially in the latter half of the year, he was clearly either unfit or carrying some injury. He had very little pace, agility and strength near the end of the year, but he was always willing to put his body on the line to take a grab and was probably the best contested mark taker at the club (with Hodge running a close second). That isn't the mind set of a player who doesn't want to play at his current club.

Ultimately it is a useless argument. The club wants Roughy and wont trade him and Roughy wants to be there (just signed a 4 years deal and what would he do with the Hawk tattoo on his shoulder blade).

If Freo wants a key forward, we may give them Lisle. Been spectacular for Box Hill all year and with both Buddy and Roughy up forward will probably never get a game. Hawks would want more than Taz for him though.

Lisle + Ladson for Taz + Palmer might be a fair trade. Don't think Dowler holds any currency at the moment.

I agree. He is fantastic and will be even better!! The problem being you have to give something away to get something. Dowler has no currency - can't even get a game in the Box Hill Seniors. Ladson has some, but hasn't shown much form this year and hasn't had the pace he once had, an issue for a 27 yo player.

A straight swap of Taz for Ladson might be enough, my guess is it wouldn't quite be. To get Palmer you will need something substantial.

Also remember the Hawks will be looking to try and cash in on the Lions exodus, so looking to get players like Drummond, Sherman or Brennan should be a priority as well. To get the trade done, such that the players just don't enter the pre-season draft and get taken by the Suns, we will also need to offer the Lions something as well.

Sherman is quick and can play a run with role. Could free up Bateman to run free on the wing.

Drummond would be great off half back, especially now that Brown is gone.

Brennan is probably the one we need the least, although he is a great player, we have players of his type in abundance.

Collingwood also has to want him, and come to an agreement with Freo. If Carlton or Hawthorn offer Freo a better offer, Collingwood probably won't happen. That is if they want him, but given the performance of Brown and Reid and Presti as well, I'm not sure they need a 29 year old Full Back or will want to take away further development games from 2 young key defenders.

Freo have stated that they are holding exclusive talks with Collingwood only ATM. So, only if that falls over will the Hawks have a chance for Taz

The talk is that Collingwood are most likely to get Taz. Still not sure why they want him.....

Also apparently there is some interest in the Beaus (Muston and Dowler). Very surprised with Dowler, can't imagine it is for much.
