Hey Holzman, isn't it interesting that in September Swallow was a lock and he didnt make the cut?? Or did you manage to fit him in at the last minute?

yorgis

sure he was no.1 pick and obviously is a very good player [remember jack watts]. just like a lot of other top 10 rookies we' have to wait and see how they mix it with the big boys at afl level

Watts is nothing like Swallow.

We were well aware that Watts wouldn't be playing alot of footy in his first year. Furthermore, it was clear he was a development prospect. Swallow is a ready made inside/outside midfielder.

I think anyone who didnt fit him in will be regretting it by rd 5

+1 .... i dont think you can compare the 2 players. One is a leading kpp with very little experience.. the other a gun midfielder with a whole season in the vfl under his belt. Still, will be interesting to see how he goes with a full GC squad on the field!

Added to his considerable upside he's been selected by a LOT of coaches. Whatever doubts i have about whether he'll outscore harris or other rookies is offset by knowing most opponents will suffer with me.

he was a lock untill i found heaps of value in the backline and loaded up my midfield, I was trying my hardest to get him in but i my backline was too weak if i had swallow in the mids. If i was starting 2 rookies in the mid than he would have been an instant lock but i picked foley over swallow. Swallow is a gun and im just a bit worried about GC , that game where they struggled to get any touches against brisbane was the reason i took out swallow. If he was playing in any other team than i would have picked him in a second.  As soon as guys like lower started popping up and guys like polec, conca all  didnt show much i had to make the trade.

I might not have swallow in my team now but guaranteed he will be in my team sometime over the years.

on a side note i still have Anthony and im pretty happy with him.

Fair enough! Sure is alot of value in defence this year with Lower, Duigan, Stanley etc..
