Benjy251090’s Supercoach thoughts for Mids of 2011
This will be my midfield structure and the players I will look at for Season 2011.

Mids
I will be looking at a couple of different structures, one similar to that of the Forwards and backs of previous Volumes, another is the Premium/Rookie combination that a few members of FanFooty used this year.

The first one is my more ideal structure, especially if I manage to find a cheap gem of a player:

  • Super Premium/Premium
  • Premium
  • Premium/Cheap Premium
  • Cheap Premium
  • Mid Priced (around 350K)/Returner from Injury/Rookie
  • Mid Priced (around 350K)/Returner from Injury/Rookie
  • (Rookie, Rookie, Rookie)

My second structure is the Premium/Rookie structure which will look like this:

  • Super Premium/Preium
  • Super Premium
  • Rookie
  • Rookie
  • Rookie
  • Rookie
  • (Rookie, Rookie, Rookie)

Of course both structures has its pros and cons, I will most likely be going for the first structure unless I am strapped for cash so might try the second one. The second one will also depend on the availability of mid rookies in 2011.

Super Premiums
The ‘Super Premiums’ are players that averaged over 110 in 2010. These are the players that you must have at least 1 or 2 of, not necessarily at the start of the season, but by the end they are a must have.

Brendan Goddard (STK) - $691,700

  • Number 1 average player of 2010
  • MPP MID/BACK
  • Accurate kick
  • Complete utility

Gary Ablett Jnr (GEE) - $689,700

  • Number 2 average player of 2010
  • A lot of transfer speculation as to where he will play next year
  • Game breaker
  • Accurate kick
  • Often rests up forward and kicks goals
  • 44 goals this season could put him in contention for MPP MID/FWD status

Dane Swan (COL) - $673,800

  • Number 1 scoring player of 2010
  • Game breaker
  • Accurate kick
  • Often rests up forward and kicks goals

Chris Judd (CAR) - $629,500

  • Leader of a potential challenger for a premiership in the coming years
  • Game breaker
  • Accurate kick
  • Often rests up forward and kicks goals

Joel Selwood (GEE) - $625,700

  • Will be the number one player at Geelong if Ablett leaves next year
  • Game breaker
  • Accurate kick
  • One of the toughest midfielders in the game

Luke Hodge (HAW) - $618,600

  • Number 2 back man 2010
  • MPP MID/BACK
  • Accurate kick
  • Complete utility

Paul Chapman (GEE) - $618,400

  • Number 1 averaging forward of 2010
  • MPP MID/FWD
  • Accurate kick
  • Get’s forward and kicks goals
  • Injury prone: misses 1 or 2 matches per season due to ‘general soreness’. This however might end next season because of the byes if they appear at the right time for Geelong

Michael Barlow (FRE) - $616,100

  • The most hyped player of 2010 and boy did he deliver
  • Complete game breaker
  • Accurate kick
  • Broke his leg in round 14 which unfortunately ended his maiden season short
  • Apparently will be back for Round 1 of the NAB Cup but I will wait to see how he goes preseason first

Leigh Montagna (STK) - $609,800

  • Started at a price of $668,200 but had a poor season, at one stage dipping below the $500,000 mark
  • Complete game breaker
  • Occasionally has a wayward kick
  • Either has a really big game or has a really poor game
  • Suffered from a tag occasionally

Daniel Cross (WBD) - $605,200

  • One of the most consistent performers of 2010
  • Handballs more than he kicks
  • Makes a lot of tackles
  • Only 5 scores below 100, the lowest being 70
  • Will be probably too much at the start of the season for me because he rarely scores big hundreds, possibly one of my first upgrade targets though

Nick Dal Santo (STK) - $597,400

  • Fairly inconsistent season
  • Game breaker
  • Extremely accurate kick
  • Either has a really big game or has a really poor game
  • Suffered from a tag occasionally

Marc Murphy (CAR) - $594,300

  • Very Consistent
  • Usually scores 100-120
  • Only 5 scores below 100, the lowest being 75
  • Occasionally cops the tag

Scott Pendlebury (COL) - $587,100

  • Very Consistent
  • Usually scores 100-120
  • Only 7 scores below 100, most of them in the high 90’s though, the lowest being 70
  • Can suffer from a tag but usually does well to break it

We can be patient!
Do we have a choice? :P

Seriously, no need to rush. Makes the final installment even more sought after when it comes out 8). Great job so far on the other ones.

I have decided to add what I have done so far which is all of the super premiums, hopefully in the next few days I will release the premium players!

yeah, he had an average-ish start to the season

and yeah, barlow will be likely to be an upgrade target rather than a starter as you never know how he is going to do after a break like that

Great stuff benjy. Hopefully Ablett is MPP. I agree with the others in that Barlow will be more than likely an upgrade target.

Swan and Goddard are going to be a lot of locks in a lot of teams I think.
