Summary
This guy is one of the most durable and consistent blokes in the competition.
He has played 22 games for the last 4 years and performing very consistently rarely missing the ton.
After this year there is not denying- He is a super-premium. But the question remains, to Swan or not to Swan.
My Choice
Personally I think you could fit in a maximum of 2 of GAJ, Goddard and Swan to get into your team. They are the main super premiums and putting all of them in would weaken the rest of your team. Personally if GAJ leaves for the sunny Gold Coast, I think he and Goddard or one of them would be the way to go.
If GAJ stays it is purely choice. But I have decided.
I will be Swanning.

i'm with you alex i'll be swanning it him and Goddard for me if it means i miss ablett so be it but i'll see if i can't get all 3

Hawka

it depends if god is MID/BACK, if he is only MID it will be a tough decision between god, gaj and swan at the start

if they take the MPP off godard it might sway me not to take him though considering his pinch hit all over the ground all year they an't take it away an they?  :-\

i think swannie will be over priced at start of the year... his record is no doubt charming but the big question is can you find the next dane swan?? there are alot of GOOD midfielders who can become great next year, and at a bargain price. the reason i say this is because you would rather spend big dollars down back/forw, where it is really hard to find cheap premiums, so you have to spend up big there, then buy a whole range of cheap mids then upgrade if neccesary

This is what people used to say every year about Ablett. Swan is the new Ablett IMO. Set and forget captain. Worth twice his weight in gold and then some.

- Rock solid unit around him.
- No injury niggles.
- Untaggable.
- Unlikely to have a change in role.

Lock it in Eddy.

Random stat - assuming Dane Swan plays against Ireland next week, it will be Swan's 31st official AFL sanctioned match for 2010 (3 out of 4 preseason, 22 home and away, 4 finals, 2 internationals).

He is just about the definition of durable, will be interesting to see if the interchange rule impacts him.

He is durable no doubt but an impact player off the bench in small doses :P.
