the structure of your team in dt is super important

my backline shall have a structure of

premium premium cheaperpremium midpricer midpricer rookie rookie

and the players shall be something like

gibbs(should be listed as a back) goddard broughton harris midpricer otten rookie

Will be paying more attention to the structure of my DT next year. Cost me a bit this year :'(.

I'll be looking at playing only 1 rookie though. I'm spreading them throughout the grounds though (1 back, 2 mid, 1 forward). Hopefully 3 premiums as well and maybe 2-3 mid pricers (the other being another premium if there isn't many backs I like).

My mids will likely feature 2 guns as a minimum (Boyd and Swallow :-*), 2 rookies and a mid pricer. 6th mid depends on whether I have enough cash.

Who knows for forwards as they burned me this year :'(.

jamster

yea forwards were my kryptonite this year as well im gonna get forwards perfected early
im might go knights riewodlt sylvia brown premium mid pricer and maybe a rookie in the forward line?

i reckon get cash cows in the backs
2 rookies in the mid on the field and 150000 in the kitty at the start

I usually leave 50-100k for emergencies/early changes. Might have to think about that if i want to get the players I want!!

dont think that will work hp, depending on how much they raise the cap if they do at all too accommodate the extra players

My theory is (and it worked reasonably well this year) is all premiums/rookies. No Mid-pricers.

Reasoning being that whilst for maybe the first half of the season scores wont be as high, by taking a little bit of time and using a few trades all the rookies that you started with can then be upgraded. My feeling is that a mid-price player is a wasted player, especially if they stay mid price. Theyr not making you any money and in alot of cases are scoring aroun what the rookies do anyway.

Going on this theory I'm looking at starting about 6 rookies on the field, 3/4 in the midfield 1/2 in the forward line and 1 in the back line, and this should hopefully enable me to otherwise have a full premium team. The one mid-pricer that I would even contemplate picking up at the moment is Otten, and even then I will wait and see how he goes over the preseason.

By using this method I will start trading at about round 5 and am hoping to have a full premium team by about round 12/13, ready for a bit of a charge at the top 1000.

Yeah it would be tough doing this if they don't raise the cap. At least it'll be more challenging if they don't.

jamster

dadsy, what was your starting line up and whats your overall ranking,
i reckon mid pricers pretty useless(i had a few this year and only eski was good) what was your structure as welll?

Goddard: 480K
Gibbs: 430K
Broughton: 400K
Harris: 200K
Midpricer: 350K
Otten: 200K
Rookie: 120K

+ 3 Bench Players: 400K

Total Cost: Almost 2.6M

@Jamster

starting line up for round 1 was:

Hodge, Broughton, Duffield, Enright, Goddard, Ellis, Mackie (Maguire, Nason)

Barlow, Shuey, Banner, Trengove, Scully, Martin (Bastinac, Howlett)

Sandilands, Clark (Warnock, Lobbe)

Okeefe, Brennan, Reiwoldt, Chapman, Goodes, Higgins, Franklin (Gumbleton, Hitchcock)

made some bad trades this year, but overall ranked 6000th at the moment and next year with a bit of tweaking i reckon i can easily make top 1000
