i was thinking NIGEL DE JONG?? he plays for man city, scored well last week and also it will only take me one trade to get there and it will give me about 3.5 mill left over. will he start often enough??

P.S. (did he play for netherlands in the WC??)

cheers :)

it would help if you specify which competition you are talking about because people are priced differently in each. i wouldn't get de jong he plays as a DM so wont score highly

elephants

okay. i am doing virtual sports :)

CrowsFan

ok, well i'm in the same boat, just with less money to spend. since you have around 10 mill to spend i would recommend any of these players in order of price:
Valencia
Arshavin
Arteta
Young
Any of these players should do really well. Prob can't go wrong with any of them

elephants

thanks mate your a champ. BUT i think i would rather look at a cheaper player as my mids are pretty well satcked with guns already. i am thinking anyone around the 6 mill mark (da silva and de jong all i can think of). thanks for your help though. i might go for a gun or a cheapie not sure yet :)

CrowsFan

Ok well if you want to go for the cheaper option you could go for fellaini from everton. young player who has improved each year. can score goals and creates them too. i would have had him in my team from the start but i thought he was injured. now wont get him cos i have cahill in the mids

elephants

okay thanks a heap crowsfan :D

elephants

oh i might add that i have pienaar (from everton) in my mids already. :P

elephants

(bump) pleaase guys!!!

also what about yaya toure played well last week. will he get regular games??

reesbr

Yaya Toure is a defensive mid

agree with reesbr. the reason you think that de jong and toure did well was because man city didn't concede a goal which gave them 6 points, plus 2 points for a draw. man city wont always get a clean sheet so there goes the 6 points plus these 2 aren't that likely to score goals (10 points) or get an assist (6 points). you should look at players who will get goals and assists even if they didn't score well in the first week. you can't judge a player by just 1 game.

how about modric? costs a bit over 7 i think, but might not play this week...

i still think you might as well splash the cash on one of those players i mentioned before, especially valencia or arshavin. both will get a fair few clean sheets (6 points) and wins (4 points) so even if they don't do anything but play 60 minutes thats 14 points right there. they are priced highly for a reason, but are worth it

elephants

okay thanks crowsfan i dint know much about where people play outside of chelsea/arsenal. i am syilol looking....modric? never heard of him but i assume he is decent i already have aaron lennon in my mids so that is a tottenham player spot taken :(

david silva? theo walcott? Vincent Kompany? (who is kompany)? cheers crowsfan your'e a star

CrowsFan

ok don't bother with modric then.
david silva could be a good pick he plays as a winger so should provide a few assists and goals, the question with him is whether he will adjust to the more english game compared to spain where players are given more time on the ball, plus with so many man city players and now milner coming in he may not play every game.
stay away from walcott he wont play most of the games, usually comes on as a sub.
kompany started his career as a defender but can also play as a defensive midfielder. however this year is playing as a defender again, so definitely don't get him.
there is a risky option which i haven't mentioned yet, but it is the transfer i made, and that is steven ireland. went to aston villa as part of the transfer of milner to man city. can play as an attacking midfielder or winger and before the billionaires came to city was one of their better players. it is a risk cos i'm not sure if he will go straight in to the starting XI at villa
