I've been slowly updating my team, and have come accross some tough decisions.

Is COX really that necessary, what about a SIMMONDS & HILLE duo? For the 100k you save you could upgrade 2 80+ players to become 2 100+ players. Is it really possible for him to keep repeating his performances without the support of a quality team and backup ruckman?

Who would you choose out of RICHARDSON, DELEDIO, N.BROWN?
It's usually only valuable to have one forward from each team, but with three such versatile players all being classified as forwards, is it possible to have 2 or even 3 of them in your team?

Who would you choose out of ROO / PAV / FRANKLIN / OTHER? They have been the reliable forwards over the past couple of years, will they back it up again this year?

Who would you choose out of COUSINS / FOLEY / BOAK / OTHER?
I think these are the three best value options for midfielders in the mid 300's price range. Is cousins too big a risk? (Not is my opinion - he still looks as fit as he ever did, and by all accounts he ripped it up in the Tigers practice match.)  Will Foley be able to repeat last years performance with another midfielder in the team, and will Boak really step it up this year to become a 100+ player? Or is ther someone else?

Will FEVOLA step it up this year with a more experienced midfield? He's not in my team yet (waiting for there NAB cup game). But i think he should be able to reach 90+ consistently with the quality of ball he'll be receiving this year.

And the last one ive been thinking about is, How many first years is safe in a starting line-up? At the moment ive got 2 on the ground (Rich & Hill) and 8 on the bench. But i guess this will probably change when teams are released.

Cox is necessary if you want consistency.  He played with injuries last year but still averaged over 100.  He is a lock IMO.

Deledio for me.  I think the guy is ready to have a huge year.  Last season was fanstastic but I reckon he is close to becoming an elite midfielder.

Roo & Pav for me with Deledio as my 3rd premium.  Pav is a slight worry as he won't be playing the NAB Cup but the guy is a gun so to miss out on him could be fatal.

I have gone for 3 premiums in the midfield along with Van Berlo & Haselby.  Cuz is tempting but risky in regards to injury.

I have not even given Fev a thought this year....

I have both Rich & Hill starting along with Yarran & Sidebottom but I have a feeling that will change which in turn will affect other areas of my squad.

I have Big Cox, but I don't believe he is a necessity. A lot of people just love Big Cox. Plenty of people will take Big Cox this year.

...Big Cox.

Richo, Lids, Brown?  -Lids.

Riewy, Pav, Buddy?  -Riewy.

Cuz, Foley, Boak, other?  -Boak or other.

Fev? No.

Hill starting? no.

There is such a big gap between Cox and the field that even if is average dropped by 10-15, he'd still be worth it .( although you'd prefer to upgrade to him at a lower price, I won't be taking that risk ).

Riewoldt selects himself for the volume of marks he takes.
But I'd be inclined to pick Roo,Pav,Buddy and Lids if possible!!

Delidio is clearly the best of the 3 tigers mentioned without question.

Boak is set to have a breakout year, IMO.

Would even bother with Fev. He is a stay at home full forward who will deliver bad scores when the Blues have an off game. Other power forwards above go up the ground and have more impact on the game.

I think Rich and Yarran are good to go, may have said the same about Hurley too before his gall bladder op. After that it gets shaky.

I think Fev will have a good year... he is a strong lead without any real competition up forward to take the goals off him... and with Murphy, Judd, Stevens and Gibbs all gun kicks, he should be getting hit on the tits a lot more this season...  Tough choice with the richmond FWDs... Richo pulls in so many marks which is a DT gold mine...

got to have cox
deledio
prob pav, v. consistent. riewoldt is a slow starter, but boomer looks good again
masten, but boak and gibbs are flying
fev. no. had to many bad years with key forwards, although if i had to have one he looks good this year if carlton have have big year
have to wait for pre season before you can talk about rookies
