Do you think Dalziell should be traded now with getting a score a 60 with his price or was that a one off.
I was thinking of downgrading Selwood for Gibbs with his price going to go way up and putting Swan in  who will get over 100 every week for Dalziell?
Any thoughts????

stuballers

ur an idiot.

Dalziell played one bad game and u want to trade him.
Selwood is a gun, why would u trade him?
Who cares if Gibbs' price goes up because ur not going to trade him.

Admrap, that was an awful post, they are some stinkn trade options.

admrap

just askin for opinions guy.... no need for an attack.... doesnt mean im going to actually do it

Don't listen to stuballers, he had a difficult childhood.  Anyone who thinks being a gun footballer and getting an average of 80 in DT is good enough is no threat in this competition.

I think your problem is you went with two very risky mids at high prices.  J Selwood has never proven himself to be DT elite and picking him up was anticipating a break-out year.  At 380K (I think), this was a mistake, particularly because of his hard inside game and proclivity for handballing.

Similarly, Dalziell is a ball magnet who had only played 7 games prior to '09.  You picked him up for 412K, which was a bif f***ing risk.  He came through in one week, and stitched you in another.  Tough to know which way to go on him.

However, a couple of sideways trades is acceptable in DT.  Normally you reserve them for incorrectly chosen rookies, but if you are sweet with Trenko, Cheney, Robinson, Beams, Ziebell, etc, I would not disagree with the moves.

In my opinion, always fall back on proven guns.  Swan was a must-have (I'm shocked everyone doesn't have him from the outset), and Gibbs looks like being this year's "chosen one" (for the record, I don't have him).

If you're trading elsewhere, it's porbably not worth doing both.

I dont need to trade elsewhere pending if hill or petrenko get dropped. So you think my trade idea is a good one pgillw ?

Dalziel has had two rotten games in a row, but he's surrounded by Lions midfielders who are scoring big. Whats the deal? Its not as if the team isnt performing. With Black back in for round 3 - I dont see it getting any better for him. Anyone got any info on why he hasnt performed? Maybe benched?

I'm making a decision this week about trading either Dalziel or another similarly priced midfielder who is also underperforming. Keep him? Its a bit 50/50 - I need some better info :)

hbk

so your overall trade is Dalziell and Selwood for Gibbs and Swan?

doesn't sound bad, considering the performances of Dalziell and Selwood recently...

admrap

yer i had swan and gibbs before selwood and dalziell but i also hav k.cornes thats why i didnt pick swan...plus dalziell was averaging way over 100 in pre season....i think the reason is black, power and johnstone who are getting more of the ball....i cant see dalziell get a lot more of it now....that is the same with selwood surrounded by players who going to get more of the ball than him.......it may be a waste of 2 trades but better now than lose money on them coz there over 400k

Have faith in your players admrap...

Selwood would have easily tonned up in rd 1 if it wasn't for the amount of frees he gave away...if he had i bet you wouldn't think about trading him.

Dalziell has had one bad game this year (don't forget his pre-season scores). So it is pretty harsh to give him the flick after one game!

Basically Selwood is a gun so don't trade him and Dalziell was a risky pick, but at least give him a chance- he's a ball magnet!

admrap

i understand that but selwood and dalziell are both over 400k and will lose value...they can hav a few off games and not get the ball a lot which will decrease value more...

hibbo

I would say Selwood is defs a 'keeper'- keep him through his bad games as he will repay u with some big ones! He's a player that barring injury u should keep the whole season so it doesn't matter if he goes down in value.

Dalziell could turn out to be a failure, but i doubt it. You should at least give him a few more games to see if he turns into a 'keeper'. If he goes down in value then bad luck...u win some, u lose some!

I need to choose between Brock McLean or Dalziel to trade, because they're both underperforming and I dont think I can afford to have both.

McLean was a bit of an emotional and risky choice. I believe that he needed to fire for Melbourne to play well, and so far he hasn't. A lot of talent there, but nothing is happening. Similar to Dalziel, but its more early days for him.

I also feel that the other players in Melbourne can't keep up the scoring, and McLean seriously has only upwards to go. A key player for Melbourne and is performing like poo. Whereas for Dalziel - he's surrounded by a lot of players who are getting the ball, and will continue to I imagine. Power, Black, Johnstone (maybe)

Do you think McLean can be given the boot? Hold on to Dalziel? Each day I change my mind lol. I want to make a trade this week with a performing player so I won't be down by $50,000+ if I end out trading one of them later.

gerry01

who cares if a 400k player drops in value. you should have chosen these guys with the intent to keep them the whole season bah LTI.

selwood would've got 100 if he wasn't knocked out in the first quarter and by self admission come out and said that they rested certain players during the game last week (not off the field but on the wing etc) due to the quick turn around this week. no doubt joel will be in and under agin this week

Dalziell i have nothing to say. a risk before the season started.

considering trading any premium after 2 games is ridiculous. ablett only got 81 on the weekend and is going to drp in value. are you going to drop him?? what about dean cox only 99???

Common Sense has to prevail here

admrap

i already have 3 other premiums in midfield.....dropping dalziell would give me more cash plus high scores from Gibbs. yer iv made up my mind to keep selwood. i can then work out wot to do with raines and hill

snozza

I have to agree with stuballers on this one. I'm staggered that someone can start talking about using a trade on a player like Dalziell after he had one bad game. He was the only player to average over 100 DT points across 4 games of the pre-season. He then came out in week one and had an average game but still scored 112 points. Don't forget he averaged 95 from 7 games last year. If you start panicking every time one of your guns has an off day your gonna be out of trades by round 11. Get real mate, you need to be patient and the results will come. Stop wasting everyones time with crappy posts like this.
