You're crazy Q if you don't think Warren Tredrea was not only a good goalkicker, but one of the best of the last decade. Given he's been there key forward since the beginning, is it surprising they've only had him?

Not really, he was a great player and in his prime could be spoken in the same breath as Lloyd, Fev, etc. etc. He was very good and not at all surprising they held back on securing anyone else until he was not really around any more.

Master Q

Tredders is a great player, but not really a good goal kicker.

He never kicked over 60, can say anything bout that?

Ok I missed the 81 because it was on a separate  :-[ line
Kicking over 60 twice? And one of them was 65? Doesn't seem extremely good, plus his best year was when they won the flag  :P

So? Buddys best was the year they won the flag. It is the case with many forwards ???

Master Q

I'm quite sure you agreed that Buddy is overrated. He is highly rated because he had a one spectacular year because, which was because they won the flag. Same with Trederrs.

ossie85

Hawthorn would not have won the flag without Buddy. Port would not have won the flag without Tredders. Tredrea was THE BEST player in the AFL in the early 00s IMO.

Franklin has had an outstanding year btw, 48 goals from 14 matches at 3.43 goals a game. In contrast Jack Riewoldt is at 3.47 and Barry Hall 3.61. I think he'll get nominated (not make the final team) for All Aus.

Tredders was very, very, very good in the first half of the decade, probably the best forward in the game.
I do agree Buddy is overrated BUT Tredders definitely was/is not.

Tredders isn't overrated, just want to point that out. Next, If you think about it Ossie, Hawthorn just needed someone there to mark, so they could of one it without Buddy. In fact, if they had someone with a better kick, they would have been Premiership favourites.

What I'm trying to say is that he only kicked 81 because of the supply.

ossie85

So many short memories.....

Anyone remember Buddy in 2008? Magical. To imply that any forward could have done it in his position is, well, laughable. His athleticism was awesome. His marking superb. His kicking was off, but when you kick that many it doesn't matter. He was carrying injuries last year and still kicked 60+, he has played superbly this year. He is a star!

Tredders was much the same --- lead beautifully, great contested mark, and his kicking occasionally let him down. Tredders also played different to Buddy in the CHF position, and a CHF scoring 50+ goals IS a great goal scorer.

Master Q

Pause. We can't continue with the Tredders conversation until we get past this. You think Buddy was "Magical" in 2008? Is this a Joke. Jack Watts could of scored 100 goals in that Hawthorn team, his supply was endless. Hawthorn just gave the man what he wanted, then he would finish it of 60% of the time.
