Thanks CFC.  Maybe some Eagles supporters can see this and believe me when I say that we have only won 1 wooden spoon.  The same amount as the Eagles (who are about to win their first)

Indeed.

8 bottom 5 finishes to start wouldn't have helped the cellar-dweller reputation. Though I doubt that would've been the case had Freo received anything like what the GC and GWS are about to get.

Yeh, we didnt get a lot of concessions that the 2 new teams are getting.  This was our first game lineup (ages in brackets)

B: Stephen O'Reilly (23), Jamie Merrillo (23), Scott Chisholm (22)
HB: Dale Kickett (27), David Muir (24), Todd Ridley (26)
C: Jason Norrish (23), Tony Delaney (20), Ben Allen (27)
HF: Peter Mann (25), Quenton Leach (23), Craig Burrows (23)
F: Chris Groom (22), Gary Dhurrkay (21), Winston Abraham (21)
FOL: Matthew Burton (25), Peter Bell (19), Scott Waters (26)
INT: Brendan Krummel (23), Phil Gilbert (26), Scott Edwards (27)

(only 3 interchange players in '95)

Most of those players were de-listed or retired by 1999

Not really a good lineup and only 1 young exciting talent, Peter Bell, who we delisted in 1996 and he went to North Melbourne and became a star.

Others players from the inagural squad that carried on:

Shaun McManus
Shane Parker
Jeff White (We traded to Melboune in 1997)
Daniel Bandy (We traded to the Bulldogs in 2001)

Players that slipped through:

Matthew Lloyd (Essendon got this pick through compensation of Freo getting Todd Ridley)
Steven King (Saints got this pick through compensation of Freo getting Stephen O'Reilly)
Jeff Farmer (traded to Melbourne for Phil Gilbert)
Andrew McLeod (Traded to Adelaide for Chris Groom)
Chad Morrison (Eagles got this pick through compensation of Freo getting Brendan Krummel)
David Wirrpanda (Eagles got this pick through compensation of Freo getting Tony Godden)

1995 Drafts
#1 - Jeff White
#22 - Winston Abraham
#42 - Douglas Headland
#56 - Ryan Smith
#72 - Dean Grainger
#73 - Sam McFarlane

Draft picks traded away for pl;ayers
Tony Delaney traded in for pick #4
Scott Waters traded in for pick #21
Dale Kickett traded in for pick #39
Troy Polak traded in for Gelnn Freeborn and pick #55

Geez that was a poor team to start off with! Poor Freo and their trading woes. I'm still thankful for Jimmy Clement, turned into one of my all-time favourite players.

That list coupled with Neesham as coach and the "list management team" always trying to trade their way to a better side was definitely not good.  Then we go and friggen hire Damien "Douche" Drum.

Drum then interviewed Ben Allen (along with the other assistant coaches) to see if he was "worthy" of staying on as an assistant coach and decided he wasnt good enough - Bye Bye Ben.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME??  (That was massive news here in the West)

At least Ben got his payback when he was asked to be the caretaker coach when Drum was sacked.  I still remember the media interviews with Ben Allen and he was openly critical of the playing group and said a lot of them didnt deserve to be on an AFL list. (also big news here in the West)

The BEST decisions Freo have made has been to hire Mark Harvey as coach, Brad Lloyd as list manager and Simon Lloyd as senior development coach.  Pay these guys as much as they want as they have been pivotal in our recent progress up the ladder.

Fyfe is rapidly becoming my favourite player at the Dockers.  Every time he gets the ball I start yelling FYFEY at my TV screen.  Although I am partial to watching Hill running in to the 50 and kicking that lovely left foot goal - he doesnt seem to miss when he is doing that.

I wonder if anyone can come up with a new joke for a change.  I would be a millionaire if I got $1 for every time I have heard that over the last 15 years
