This IS an elimination final. Especially for Freo. If they lose they will be out of the top 4 and will struggle to get back in.
This is SUCH an important game for both teams. A top 4 position and therefor a second chance.  I fancy the Bullies.  They made Carlton look second rate (but isn't everyone?), and beat Port pretty easily.
If the Bullies get into the top 4 they won't let it go easily.

Indeed bunyip, 8 point games are always fun!

I think the Doggies will win also, but they have struggled against the top teams so far, so you never know.

A Freo win would almost close the door on Hawthorn making the four, and I'm a fan of that!

Still you wouldn't want to lose in the first week and come up against the hawks in the 2nd week... I think they will be there. Could be a straight sets elimination

Yer, I hope Geelong are on the right side of the draw if we lose the first final (assuming we make the top 4) Definately don't want to meet Hawthorn in week 2.
I agree with oss, if Freo win it would be pretty devastating for the Hawks

Well, WOOF WOOF!!

Looks like the same top 4 as last year, how boring

bunyip

I think Collingwood and Footscray are a lot closer to Geelong and the Saints this year though.
They have improved their teams.

Gonna be closer finals series than previous years hopefully.

+1 Agree, except that the teams will be in a different order. Pies vs. Dogs, and Cats vs Saints - very interesting, but I'd hate to be the team that comes up against the Hawks in the second week.

bunyip

I doubt if the players of the top 4 teams are worried that much about Hawthorn. To get in the GF you have to beat good sides. We, as supporters would prefer easier runs, but lets face it, this year there will be no easy games

Exactly the way it should be! Unlike 2007's final series, with Geelong far ahead of the crowd, Collingwood trying hard, the Eagles limping and the Roos and Port embarrasing themselves.

bunyip

true. This year you could almost toss a coin. It will come down to the best team on the day. As it should
