This is basically my 2011 sample.. but about 50% of the guys in this team i am unsure about.. what do you think??

DEF: Goddard, Fisher, Carrazzo, Scott Selwood, Bower, Adcock, Davis (Strijk, Brodie Smith)
MID: Ablett, Montagna, Judd, Boak, Trengove, Watson (Bennell, A.Hooper)
RUC: Sandilands, Goldstein (Naitanui, Lycett)
FWD: Jack Riewoldt, Nick Riewoldt, Johnno Brown, Schulz, LeCras, Walker, Goodes (Day, Watts)

A quick calculation using real prices on FFGenie tells me the absolute minimum you can expect to pay for this team is around $8.4 million - more than $400k over last year's salary cap. That is a very conservative guess though, chances are it will be closer to $9 million.

You definitely have too many mid-pricers (12 by my count) and not enough rookies (5). Replace at least 3 of the mid-pricers with rookies (I suggest getting rid of Phil Davis, Nic Naitanui and Jack Watts, who are all young tall players that will need at least one more season of development to become useful in DT), and you'll have a team with much more potential value gain that might just fit under the salary cap.

true! when i calculated the team i used their current average X 4394. Because that is how they got last years players prices... i think i should look at some young players from GC to replace those 3... Karmichael is tempting if 100K!

Which players dont you like?

I'm not sure about him, but would stay away from Bower (will play 1 then miss 8), Adcock, Davis (horrible dt scorer), Boak (unique, but much better out there), Trengove (only worthy in rookie year), Watson (same as Boak), Shulz (too many reasons to name), Le Cras (unless he plays midfield), Walker.

The majority of those guys have shown no consistency whatsoever.

Watson and Boak have the ability to step up their game next year. But reckon like this year, the money will be in the midfield. Stock up in rookies there (at least 2).

Wouldn't rule out Lecras, Walker and Adcock. Lecras is a top notch small forward but needs a tall to take the defender off him ::). Walker can get a good run in the midfield/forward flank since alot of the Golden Oldies are retiring down at Adelaide this year. Reckon could take a punt on a mid pricer there. Adcock has his trouble with injuries and would only look at him if has a injury free pre season.

Petrie if he can get a pre-season into him without breaking down? Still priced as the most expensive ruckman!

As he has played only two games this year doesn't that mean he will take a big ol' price drop going into next season? When he was up and running could tear a team apart at CHF then slip into some ruck duties to pull some cheap points, hopefully getting back to his 80+ average from 2009.

i must say i disagree about Boak and Watson. they are both terrific dt players, and boak will get better in '11.

Maybe that's why Pearce isn't performing so well ;). He almost always cops a tag and crumbles under it. Boak can handle it a bit better but Pearce is still much more damaging if allowed to run on the wings.

Backs look a tad pricey but looks alright for a plan team at this stage.

those teams are all good in hindsight, but remember they may change formations/subs/salary, i wont be planning on who i choose until that has been finalised
