I have no problem with Ryan keeping this week. The option is the more expensive Moss, but since I am keeping Theo on the bench this week, happy to go with Ryan. I think Central Coast have proved themselves a better team over the season, and Gold Coast has been excelling each time they play - history tells us that can only go for so long.

My (early week) team for this round:

Ryan
Zwaansjik, Djulbic, Rose
Bozanic, McGlinchey, Anderson, Perez
McBreen, Kwasnik, Smeltz

Bench: Theo, Broich, Stefanutto, Franjic
Waiting to hear if Simon will play this week, but as it will only be 9 days after getting 6 stitches in the bottom of his foot, suspect he will miss in the hope they can pull him out for the GF. Umming and aahing between McBreen (unique) or Smeltz (popular) as El Capitano for this week.

Finally forced my way into Top 100 (88) after subs etc this week. Still shooting for Top 50, all about backing your uniques.

Luigi197

I'm not gonna post my team yet, but who do you reckon would play 90 minutes out of these people:

Griffiths,
Hutchinson,
Simon (injury?),
McBreen,
Kwasnik,
Caravella,
Anderson,
Pantelidis,
Djite,
J Porter

-others i dont really care or no they wont or will play 90 mins,

>> and in general, captaincy to a midfielder or striker; gold coast or CCM ??

BlueStorm

Griffiths & Hutch sharing same role - too hard to predict how Arnold will choose.

Suspect Simon will miss, and the only thing Porter can do for 90 min is eat! ;)

I reckon the others, barring injury, will play at least 60.

Safe Captains: Perez, Smeltz

Risky: Djite, Kwasnik

Ballsy: McBreen, Djulbic

McRooster

Bluestorm,
Thanks for the effort you've put in this past few months to help me orient and your work in bringing the new players onboard. Your advice for me was so productive and helped me get into the game and contribute much faster because of the training and assistance you've provided.

I should keep a hold of top 20 for the teams that started in Rnd5 and have you to thank for it. Your quality of input was only possible from someone who obviously knows the game inside and out and has a genuine passion for the world game.

Premium effort  8)

Let's hope this week for a memorable GF and may the best side win  ;D

I can't wait for next season (from Rnd1 this time) and will try and make it to more United games, however many changes happen at Hindmarsh in the off season.

Luigi197

i will second that Mc, but will do a proper thanks once the final is finished.

BlueStorm

Awww shucks, thanks Rooster Man  ;D Splendid work yourself in nabbing a Top 20 from your Rnd 5 peers, you have proved to be an eager student, and a little knowledge goes a veeeeery long way in this comp.

I just like talking A League, and watch 90% of all games each week. I will gladly admit to being one of the original A League Fantasy tragics, after being indoctrinated via the superb EPL Fantasy comp. Once you can watch the games (I do love you FoxSports - well only the HD channels  :), but the sport really needs a free-to-air deal to engage the public), you can quickly pick out the bargains, and see who is knocking up assists - quite hard to find in general media.

BTW, presume you have heard Cornthwaite has left, joining the exodus of tall (mainly Adelaide) defenders to Sth Korea. Has signed a 2 year deal with Chunnam Dragons. With Rini Coolen signing for another few years, I would be happy knowing he will guide the rebuild, particularly if you can retain class like van Dijk & Flores.

Reid is confirmed gone, Dodd has left to join Perth. Who could be scary good next year with Vuckovic, Fowler for another 2 seasons, Dodd, and a major crack at Smeltz too - but we say that each off season about the Glory, then fall about pissing ourselves when they crumble after Round 5...

I am already looking forward to gathering us all up for another crack next season. With the start of next season pushed back to avoid AFL, that will give us plenty of time to plan, read up on practice match reports, and hit the ground running! A good start gives you that leg up for the rest of the season as your team value balloons while others chase the value.

(Luigi, you might get a nice response too if you are nice next week  ;)_

Now, to do my homework, put my balls on the line, and pick a team tonight that will get me in the Top 50. Went up another 20 spots last week to 68th. Having Kwasnik as El Capitano was risky, but paid handsomely.

I fly out of the country for 3 weeks tomorrow night, so shall post my team once trading done tonight, and Best of Luck to y'all in the GF. The good news is 70% of people have given up, so a team made up of playings solely from Bris & CCM will make up serious ground for those outside top 200.

Has been a pleasure, and will check in when I can from the UK. Missing Round 1 of AFL has me panicking, an entire Supercoach season could go down the gurgler before it even begins...  :'(

BlueStorm

OK, had a peek at the options, and will head into the GF with this team (barring any late news that I somehow receive in Cardiff :P)

Theo
Franjic, Rose, Susak
Broich, Nichols, McKay, Paartalu
McBreen, Kwasnik, Barbie (c)

Bench of Ryan, McGlinchey, Zwaanswjik, Franjic (Vic)

Thoughts:
Really wrestled between Theo & Ryan in goal. I suspect Ryan will have more saves to make, but more vulnerable against a Roar river to goal.

Strikers are tough. In the end I went with the only 3 that should start this week. If you, like me, suspect Brisbane will cap off a fine season, then a few striking spots for CCM is the least painful spot to put them.

For all of Roar's dominance this season, it has been driven by the midfield trio of Broich, McKay & Nichols.

Good Luck Guys, hope it's a cracking game, and we get some cracking scores  ;)

McRooster

I too struggled with Ryan v Theo. Finally deciding on Theo (had him most of the season).
GF Team is..

Theo
Smith, Rose, Zwaanswijk, Wilkinson
Bozanic, Perez, Broich, McGlinchey
Barbarouses(c), Kwasnik

Birighitti, Paartalu, McBreen, Franjic

Chasing 50+ points to cement my top 20 spot  - or do you think I need more unique starting choices (Paartalu- who I've had all season for McGlinchey, and bench Zwaaswijk for McBreen up forward???)

BlueStorm

I wouldn't worry about that too much Rooster. Looks like you are hitching your wagon to an impressive performance from CCM, and that should make you different enough I'd suggest.

Luigi197

Hey Mc if i were i would sub off Bozanic for Paartalu and Zwanny or Wilky for McBreen
its a safe bet this week with 3 strikers. and if anyone will have a clean sheet, i tip Brisbane.
and perez? i think he'll start on the bench coz of his injury

McRooster

Thanks Luigi ;)

Paartalu for Bozanic, done.
Perez becomes McKay.
Keeping McBreen on the pine allows me to play my AllStar backline of Smith, Rose, Zwaanswijk, Wilkinson

$0.3 left in bank, Team value $104.3

Luigi197

Line up should like this for the Grand Final for this week. Looking to leapfrog Hello (Dom)

Theo
Stefanutto, Rose, Smith
Paartalu, McGlinchey, Broich, McKay
Barbarouses (C), Kwasnik, Solorzano

(Ryan, Wilkinson, Bozanic, Sainsbury)

In the Bank: $11.6
Team Value: $97.7

Good luck everyone and my tip is for the Roar!

Hawka

im not rely in this but r any of uses takin a risk say put in all players from 1 team huge reward but huge risk

Luigi197

well u can't actually. u can go half half i think but not all from one team.

but you could have your keeper, starting mids and starting strikers all from the same team then the reserves and defenders all the other i think would work aswell i think.
i've got 8 BRIS and 7 CCM
