I think you guys are too hard on Knightsy, give him a chance. How long has whatsisname been at Collingwood, and how many premierships has HE won. Bomber was at Geelong for AGES before we won anything.

Here Here. Well put Bunyip. I thi nk we have got to understand that the team has very little experience. There ain't too many coaches who could take a team of inexperienced players and do more. We have a tough draw as well (not an excuse). Often it is the case that a young and inexperienced team that does well one year falls down the next (ie. Geelong - 2006).

Fellow Bomber supporters, don't expect too much. We have a balanced team, we have a few holes, but with experience they will start to perform better. Not many teams do what happened in 1993 :)

Justin Bieber

Yep. Didn't expect much this year except for maybe fighting for a spot at 7th or 8th. But reckon he should recruit some experience through the trading period. Will help with the younger players development.

As I said in the other thread - criticism of coaches makes them work harder. You think if Knights is perfect? No!

And btw, Malthouse inherited a wooden spoon team and the first thing he did was build a defence. Collingwood's had many flaws during its time but Malthouse embraced them and at least tried to fix them.

Knights on the other hand, when criticised for his tactics, basically says that there is no fault in the game plan and lives in lala land.

Perhaps you're right HP. They got Prismall - hasn't really worked though. They do need to try and get that experience for team balance. Tough Draw though this year for an inexperienced side. Next year we should see some better results.

Knights is yet to show he can coach to a plan B. I think he has major limitations because when Essendon lose they get pumped.

He also got rid of Lloyd a year early based on principle which I think wasn't a great decision as clearly they have gone backwards this year.

Personally I hope he stays there for a long time but I doubt he'll make another 12 months.

What the hell is this plan B crapp.  Nothing ever runs according to plan on a footy field. Well, not as well as hoped anyway. I think a coach has to be creative during a game to cater for unforseen circumstances, players out of form or just getting their arse kicked and stuff like that.

ossie85

bunyip, that's what a plan B is for - unforseen circumstances.

Justin Bieber

He should be given another year or two but needs to come up with the Plan B like you guys suggested. We can't be getting caught out so often. We need a plan to minimise the impact. Hopefully he can come up with one and implement it soon.

HillHero13

yeah get off him.... of course the game plan looks all wrong its coz of inexperience.. well put bunyip..

but i guess the reason why supporters are angry is because last year we made the finals... and this year we have done jack shower this year... i think the supporters expected a 7th or 8th spot finish..

how are we meant to do that with no Lloyd, Lucas or Lovett... there big shoes to fill

hopefully neagle has some promising signs this weekend!!

As I said I hope he stays, it will one less competitive team we need to worry about.

bunyip

Plan B is recruit players who cannot adhere to plan A

bunyip

For your information this is Geelongs game plan for this year. I broke in last night and stole it just for you.
Game plan
Plan A. Use the plan devised by the coaching staff over the summer break and have been practicing all pre-season.
Plan B. Refer to plan A.

You really think football teams only train for one eventuality over the preseason?

Mark Thompson mentioned at his press conference that last week they changed their game plan AND that it is unlikely to be the same gameplan they take into all of their finals.

I guess that is how they broke the all time possession record last week.
